For quite a while now city council has been deadlocked on an appointment to the Mus board. I Think if Jesus Christ came back and were nominated he would be immediately and rudely rejected before the mayor could reach the end of his sentence.

City council meetings are no more than reruns of the same meeting over and over again. It would be hilarious if it weren't so irresponsible.

I'd like to make a suggestion. I have noticed on my MUS bill there is plenty of room to print a ballot. I think the original 3 candidates the MUS board suggested should be considered by those who are subscribers to MUS services. Shouldn't the subscribers deserve to choose those that make decisions that effect their services?

Mark,
Your idea has some merit. For whatever reason, both sides have backed themselves in a corner and refuse to budge. Apparently saving face is more important than the board.

I would see a good compromise candidate to be Pat or Judy McGuffin with a promise from their part to not run for re-appointment if Danny Thomas is not mayor.

Without a compromise candidate, the best option is to take the vote away from both sides.

I'm sure that doesn't help but imagine you were looking for a home for your business. Things like infrastructure, qualified and dependable workers, customer base if you intend to market locally and many other things factor into that decision.

What are the benefits of serving on this board? I doubt it is as the tourism board in Knoxville, but there must be a reason people want to be elected.

I imagine you have to attend meetings and judging from the attendence at public meetings there seems to be few in this county or town who have a committment of service.

It matters not what you people want ,George mcguffin will be put in if they have to change teen. Law, mcguffin runs this town and will always run this town, he own,s 95% of the council members, if they fail to get him in to muc he will destroy them, they will never get another job in Tennessee. So let's welcome george mcguffin to the board. All hail king George

A McGuffin should never hold public office of any kind in Morristown. Of course, this was settled some time ago when Georgie had the state law changed re how appointments are made to the utility board. And now we know about the WATE investigation re lack of oversight by Georgie's board. As long as he and his gang are alive, there will be no transparency or accountability in how this town is governed.

And now as time has passed, we see the mayor was accurate in wanting the MUS board considered differently. What a shame we consumers were not more informed. Thank you, Mr. Mayor~

And let's not forget that Mayor Thomas just this week tried without success to put Council agenda packets on the city's website for all to see. The county does it. What is this city afraid of when it comes to informing the public? Could it be that McGuffin and his greedy dishonest gang might lose their grip? Folks, this has got to change, and I hope the next city election will produce some honest and capable candidates who can take charge.
