It was a hot August evening in 1968, with the fireflies assuming the role of the sun as the primary illuminator of the day. The NIXON'S THE ONE signs decorated the roadways with the Happy Warrior from Minnesota charming us with the Humphrey adaptation of "Happy Days are Here Again!" The 1968 election like so many before and indeed after, offerred salvation from the times. It was a continuation of the Great Society versus Law and Order. Few noticed that during this escalated interest of our nation's destiny, a celebrity had arrived that would alter the complexion of Morristown forever. Yes, the youngest niece from Bea Arthur's first marriage had exited the Chrysler Imperial at Ma and Pa Jackson's place. Yes, it was a meat 'n three night and Morristown delivered. We are all a little richer for the experience, as Morristown was catapulted into a celebrity hide out due to the mannerly yet warm greetings from the local towns people. The next time you see Brittany or Harrison on the street, smile softly to yourself as you allow them their well deserved privacy and remember that had it not been for Bea's niece, this town would have dodged greatness

I have it on good authority that Marilyn Monroe once stopped in Morristown back in the 50's, and took a leak at Tower Gulf station. She went from there to Bob Bales Ford and looked at a Thunderbird convertible. Upon seeing her Bobby III went to the mens room, and had an orgasm. But, I understand it was a very small one, and the orgasm was too.

What about Ashley Price-Bunch. Played on the LPGA Tour. Clyde Wright from Jefferson City played for the California Angels for about ten years. Even pitched in an all-star game. (Faced Pete Rose in ,I believe '75). He's got kin in town. Bear Bryant was here in the 60's recruiting Rodney Wampler Dom DiMaggio, brother of Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio (Joe was married to Marilyn Monroe) played for the old Morristown Red Sox way back when.

Why, the Citizen Tribune features celebrities every Sunday. They simply pay off the paper to get a bland write up and dumb headline about their business. It's always the same businesses too! They must really be bringing some star power to always be in there.

Jane Wagner who is married to Lily Tomlin is from Morristown. She is also a writer and a producer. The late Dr. Jaynes also had a daughter who I guess would have been considered a celebrity. I cannot remember what she did but do remember an article about her in the news when I was a teen - and that's been years ago.
