If you need homeownwers insurance don't use farm bureau. If you file a claim they will drop you when it is time to renew. They act all friendly until you actually have to use your policy. This is the reason we buy insurance to protect us. Farm Bureau has a nasty reputation for this and they live up to it

I know a guy who had Farm Bureau and they wouldn't pay for his roof after it was hail damaged. I work with a lady who had to fight to get her hail damage fixed by Farm Bureau. Both of these people live in Knoxville where the damage was pretty bad. We almost went with Farm Bureau...glad we didn't.

I hate to hear about anyone getting scr*wed over by an insurance company. BUT we have farm bureau homeowners and car insurance. We got a new roof and a hefty check for both of our cars due to hail damage. The only complaint from me would be the amount of time it took, but they came through in the end & Im satisfied. It really sucks that it doesnt always work that way though.

When I was a teenager I was in a accident. It wasn't my fault but the girl that hit me didn't have insurance and Farm Bureau had to pay to have my car fixed. When time came for to renew my rate went up 3 times the amount as before. I went with Allstate, and haven't had a problem.
just wondering

we have farm bureau called to make a claim and was told that i had to pay my deductable and a 135 fee and was told that if i turn in another claim later on that i couldnt turn in another claim for three yrs. This was the first claim I had every made and have had home insurance with them for 7 yrs. And never turned in anything. I thought that is what we pd the insurance for was to use when something happened to our home.

In this case, did you have a police report which specifically stated that it was HER fault...and also state that it was NOT your fault...that you provided with your claim?

If an insurance company does not have that report...they will assume it was your fault and jack up the rates accordingly.

Yes, I did have a police report. It clearly stated that the other driver was a fault. In fact, the other driver received a citation for failure to yield.

wait til your policy comes up for renewal. They don't have the ba*ls to let you know ahead of time, they'll just send you a letter saying they are dropping you.
FB has a bunch of wimps working there, they could care less how long you've been with them, or if you've never had any claims.

I'm so glad that I found this website and read all the negative comments, it help me to decide to go or not with them, I had my own neg. experience so thanks all of you..From start, they didnít call me as they promise in 2 days, I was looking for an ins. Comp. and get a quote, I had to call after a week, oh boy this ins. comp. is not for my house. They do act friendly, makes you think that hmm, we are the best!! To me, they are not trustworthy. People out there do your homework!!!before choose an Ins.Com p.

My family has had Farm Bureau car and home insurance for 10 years and have had no trouble at all. I have had 2 wrecks and my husband has had 3. They have paid to fix our cars all 5 times, paying over 10,000.00 in repairs 3 of the times. They wouldn't total the cars though because they were new. We have had our roof repaired twice due to hail damage and only had to pay our deductible. Our child's playground set also was destroyed in the storms. They payed to replace it as well as paid for the labor to put it together. They have never tried to drop us and have always been more than willing to help us. They have always responded quickly. I would never switch to anyone else.

Just wait, they will get you sooner or later. It sounds as if all these claims were recent. More than likely they'll up your premium (due to inflation..right) but it's happening with many insurance companies. I was told ( not by FB) that our premium was going up all across Tennessee due to the storms, well I didn't have any damage. And isn't that was Fema is for? we pay our share for FEMA. There's no way around insurance companies. FB is the worst!

They probably spent more on "consultants" and experts trying to prove that my roof damage was due to poor installation instead of hail damage than the claim would have been. That was hard to take knowing that they were paying the same roofer for doing my neighbor's roof after the same storm. The roofer told me that ours was worse (and clearly the result of hail) and that he didn't understand it. I think it depends on who you are.

There used to be a man from Greeneville that worked there--maybe a Tweed?--all pompous, thought he was "all that"--very rude to policy holders.

I love farm bureau! It's the only insurance I have ever had since I was 16! I wrecked the day I got my lic my parents hadn't notified them to put me their insurance and they still covered my wreck. When it was time to get my own auto and home policy I automatically went with them~in 2007 I was rear-ended 3 times in 7 weeks and my repairs were made with no problems at all-none of those were my fault but the other drivers all had farm bureau too~no problems my rates didn't go up. I recently filed for my roof and gutter damage from the storms called on a Tuesday, the sameThursday they had adjuster there to look at it and received my check exactly one week from the Thursday they viewed the damaged. I can't complain a bit-the only thing that will happen to my rates is I won't continue to receive $41 for no claims-big deal! My aunt and uncle had allstate and their house burned to the ground-allstate wouldn't even cover their new heat pump saying that was a replacement of wear and tear- they are also telling a friend of mine that about her roof-

Farm Bureau treated me good. I had damage to my house because a car hit it. The owner of the car had no insurance. I filed a police report and a claim with Farm Bureau. They mailed me a check within 2 weeks that covered the cost of repairs and my insurance rate stayed the same.

Tweed was rude to me and my parents, too. And we have had insurance with FB for years--85 years total. He is pompous, rude, and obnoxious. And he is NOT all that! Just thinks he is.

Most of all the negative is because of the appraiser who estimated the damage. Farm B goes by what they say and stand behind them. It is the insured who let it happen. Blame yourself not Farm B.
