Did a little research, simply because I was curious what's going on up there. With that high a murder rate there's more going on than TGM's odd theory.

Seems two things going on. One is a result of LE's attempts at gang and drug control, the old gangs have been put in jail, leaving a vacuum for gang power, so now there's a new turf war going on.

Second are the Mexican drug cartels trying to take over from the black gangs, and the war that usually starts with that.

And the mayor has pretty much said "let them shoot each other, just stay away from innocent civilians and little kids" Chicago has been listed as the most dangerous city in the world (even worse than Kabul) at this point.

And this with strict gun control laws. You're allowed one firearm, to be kept inside at all times. Can't take it out to your porch, in your yard or garage. Seems to be working well I think...

I worked there years ago and Chicago has always been this way, go back and check history of crime in this city. Just another normal day in the windy city of crook county.
