I have seen posts on here before about Wellsprings, but couldn't find them so I decided to start a new discussion.

I am interested in Wellsprings, and wanting some more information on it. Anyone out there with some insight, or who have been there personally, if you wouldn't mind posting about your experiences, likes, dislikes, and what you went there for, etc... it would be very helpful. Thanks.

Have to tell you that I was not impressed. I was going to once person and my wife was going to another. We were there to save our relationship and Jim told her more than one time to divorce me. This is suppose to be a Christian counseling place but gave very worldly adivce. We ended up leaving there and finding a good counsel and have worked through our issues and are very happy now. So I wouldn't give it a good rating for help with relationships. Can't tell you about taking children there or working through other issues.

Took my son there and Ms.Denise is excellent. Not sure about marriage talk, but she is great with kids. As far as marriage problems, go see Fireproof. Excellent movie.

I am a local pediatrician, and I don't send kids anywhere other than Wellsprings. I have had especially good experiences with Linda, Denise and Becca. The only bad thing is that they do not have a psychiatrist on staff, so care becomes fragmented if medication is necessary. Wellsprings has plenty of evening hours. Cherokee is not bad either, but office is disorganized and staff turnover is more common, quality is more variable. For older teens and adults, Dr LeMay and his wife, Dr Steele in JC are wonderful, very good at marriage counseling and anxiety disorders. I believe that she does more of the marriage counseling, but this is not my area of expertise.

If you don't mind me asking where did you and your wife end up going? My spouse and I have been looking for someone to counsel us and can't seem to find anyone.

They do take insurance. If you pay out of pocket somewhere around $90

We ended up meeting with a local pastor who is also a psychiatrist. Was amazed at the difference in the approach. Remember, just because someone claims to be a Christian counseling group, that doesn't mean they will follow Bibical truths.

On another note, I do have also heard good things about the children's services provided there.

Check with your church if you go to one to see if they can give you advice about who to go to. At the lifeway retreat, we were given a website with Christian groups that provide services, will see if I can find it and post it tomorrow.

Becca Hill is excellent and usually has a very long wait.

My sister went there. Our family has insurance but it was still like $75. The insurance company will tell you the co pay if you have a mental part on your insurance. Becca was really great with my sister. I had to go to a visit. I really liked her but my sister and i are totally differant. Becca talked about God and i loved that, my sister just thinks that God stuff is crazy.

Very professional and honestly caring. Hard to find that anywhere. She is very dedicated to her clients and seems to have a vested interest in their lives.

Use capital letters OK?:P

What you will pay will depend on your insurance. Check with your insurance first so there will be no surprises. Many companies offer EAP's (free visits) check with your HR. BCBS usually has good plans and any State of TN employee has excellent mental health coverage. If you do have to pay out of pocket it is usually due to a deduct. They really try to work with you on that. They also offer a reduced fee counselor and a Intern at a reduced fee. I know everyone has a different experience with counseling. All the counselors are wonderful caring compassionate people. If there is a waiting list just give it some time and call back frequently to check for openings that will show you are really eager to get a spot and they might try to get you in faster. As far as marriage counseling, Denise, Linda, Becca, Dr. Barbara Robinson all do that. I hope this info helps.

Thanks for all of the information. I have checked with my insurance and had them check as well, and got that all straightened out. I have been put on the waiting list to see Denise... Becca is also booked until after the Holidays. My only other option is Linda. I haven't heard much about her, other than that she works with children (and that's why I plan to go)... so I haven't decided if I want to go ahead with an appointment with her, or stick to my waiting list with Denise. They told me that I wasn't guaranteed a "spot" or "scheduled time" with Denise, that it would jsut be on a cancellation type basis until she got finished with other clients. Soooo.... I would also be very appreciative of any insight/information on experience with Linda Mabe.

I can't speak of any personal counseling experiences with Linda but I can say that she is an excellent counselor, she sees many children and parents. I would recommend her especially if she has openings. I know her personally and she is a Godly woman, very caring and compassionate.

The children's services are good. If you are looking for faith based counseling for relationships, look else where. Not saying the people are bad, they just aren't able to separate their secular training from biblical truths.

Would you want an internist or oncologist to treat you using faith neutral interventions that are scientifically proven or would you prefer a treatment plan solely based on Biblical truths? I'm not being sarcastic, but I think counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and all mental health professionals should not be judged on being trained in secular models. That doesn't mean that they do not have a strong faith system in place.(perhaps the same as yours!:-)
