I worked in an after school program with elementary age hispanic kids. Several of these kids knew almost no English. Can you imagine how scary it would be to sit in room full of people for 6 hours a day and not understand one thing going on around you? Better yet, many of these kids remember crossing the boarder with their parents scared to death they would be caught or shot. How about drinking water from a stream that your brother just took a crap in.

Thanks to Bush, we are still going by "no child left behind". What that means to me, my kid can master the material in class but can not move on to the next thing till most all kids in the class have mastered the material too. So you have this Hispanic kid that can't even speak English expected to retain the material at the same pace as my kid. While waiting on the Hispanic to learn my kid gets board and becomes a behavior problem. But how can u look at this other kid who is scared to death and blame him/her?

I will do anything to protect my family, even if it means moving illegally to another country. It seems if we made it easier to become a US citizen then these people can work legally and pay taxes and buy insurance. That's what bothers us most, right? I get that drugs and crime are on the rise and yes mexcains play a large role In this but if how else can they make money. If they can legally work then they would not have to sell drugs to feed their family. The longer we sit on this the worse it will become

Here's a bit of advice often given by the natives here to outsiders. "If you don't like it here, don't let HWY-81 stop you from leaving.

Also, don't thank "BUSH" for your moralless town. The House of Representatives passed the bill on May 23, 2001 (voting 384–45), AND United States Senate passed it on June 14, 2001 (voting 91–8). Out of those 91 people in the senate, and the 384 people in the house, 344 of those people were liberal scum sucking pigs (some often refer to Democrats). Anything else you'd like to add Captain Fcking Clueless?

Why should be a citizen be something easy to obtain? Then we would have droves of people-oh wait, we already do! There aren't enough jobs to go around now-what would making them legal help? Drugs are such a part of their culture. Don't you get it? They do not want to be Americans-they want to reap the benefits and maintain their culture-keep speaking Spanish, pile up in houses, receive services, etc.The answer id for them to go back and rebuild their own country-not destroy mine!

I say there should be an easier way for those people who can and have proven they can contribute. I personally know someone who paid 60k outstate tuition and was not able to get a job after earning her degree just because she was not in good legal standing. I say if you are willing to put forth the effort and show that you are here to give instead of receive, then there should be a way. No reason to be a hard ass and bunch everyone into a generic category, that just shows your ignorance.

Now maybe. 10 years ago they were here to find a better life for their family. The only reason they reap our benefits now is because we dangle them out there for the taking. The Hispanic kids are the ones that are going to really bring our community down. As they get older they fall in the footsteps of their parents and it will get worse. Have starting businesses or industries in Mexico ever been successful? Could providing jobs there make a difference?

When I worked with these elementry kids my view of hispanics in general changed. They didn't ask for this. The position they are put in is one of doom and crime. These kids will be I'n high school with my kids. They aren't going anywhere. The only way I can see this having a positive outcome is starting now educate them. That's a challenge itself due to lack of resources. Like I said, like it or not these guys are here to stay.

Good-Luck, I didn't start this post to make you look good. Anyone who spends time on topix knows you are genusis. I am trying to understand. As my kids get older the problem gets larger. I wondered if there could be an alternative to the problem. I am not interested in numbers. I am a Morristown retard so don't use big words either. Please refrain from calling me names

What do you mean steal your Child's college education? They dont get any types of pell grants or govt. subsidies. How is paying for your own education a free ride? And if your child is as ignorant/uneducated as you are, please keep him out of college I would hate for him to wast "MY" hard earned money and everyone else's on a "FREE RIDE". How about your read up on your information before you post ignorant childish rants that have no basis at all.

where does your kids go to school?...as an educator, I see the Hispanics wanting to learn, show respect, have manners, don't see it with the white kids..they would rather throw spit balls, sleep in class, argue with the teachers, start fights, use foul language, need I say more?

What I have seen is the mexican Kids get alot of special treatment and attention. While the teachers are busy with the Mexican kids , the white kids and black kids seem to get bored and restless. They seem to get frustrated waiting on the teacher to always catch the hispanic kids up. Put all the hispanic kids in the same class and teach them at a pace they can do. Quit being Politically correct and start doing what the kids need.

I chose the name of the thread simply to get peoples attention. Like I said, I worked two years in an after school program that tutored Hispanics kids. We worked with the teachers. we would focus mostly on the area that each kid struggled with most. After I had been there a week I was a different person. I was crazy about the kids. I think most people don't have a clue how hard it is on these kids. Most don't think about how it would be to start a new school, not able to communicate and pretty much friendless.

Alot of the kids remember walking across that border praying they don't get shot. I hate I was misunderstood. What puzzled me most is how hard it is to become a citizen. They got with only cloths on there back, how could you possibly think they can fork out the money for a green card. Without legimate jobs The easiest way to get money is drugs. It did not start out this way. My question, why is it so expensive to get a green card. We spend millions of dollars returning them from where they come from only to see them right back here again. We lose money by putting them in a US jail for selling drugs. Maybe if they could get a legimate job they could provide for there family without selling drugs.

If the parents paid taxes maybe we could increase programs to help the kids with school. You can't expect a teacher to hold the whole class back while one student is not mastering the lesson because they don't speak English. There has to be a better way. Teachers aren't holding students back to repeat a grade. At the end of the year Hispanics move on with our children but don't have the same education and are not prepared for the next school year Yet they continue to pass to the next grade.
Sorry it came out wrong. I would love to see some kind change I'n Morristown.

I am an educator and I see more crap from the average white kid than from most hispanic kids. As far as the other poster teaching your kids, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Grow up! Don't bother with a reply I usually don't come back and read too much after someone like you has ruined a thread!

I really hoped that this thread could be a place where we discussed alternatives to improve education for all kids. I thought maybe it would open the eyes of others and and be more compassionate at least to the children. Instead of complaining actually take steps to improve this issue. There are good people In Morristown I promise

Don't waste your time on these clowns. They cant justify their existence unless they have a race to blame their miserable lives on. It helps them sleep better.

let me put my two sense in on this lol first off let me say that im a white women and i have a white baby i have nothin against hispanics but im sick of everyone dawgin them they are people just like everyone else let me ask you all a ? what would you do if america was exactly the same way her as it is in mexico would you stay here or would you better your self and family from the situation? Hispanics hold it down for their family thats for sure while ur sittin there runnin ur mouth about how they pile up lol get real idiot if half of us americans would take so advice from them it would be smart they all live together and everyone pitches in on the bills its a lot cheaper and easier of everyone involved it makes sense if all americans were not about nothin but drama our families could live together like they do they love their families they might get drunk and crack one another over the head with beer bottles but the next day they wake up and laugh about it and still reside in the same home together and who ever started this topic is a idiot the kids are minors and they cant stay behind while their parents cross the border they have to go because they are kids and they gotta listen to what their parents say its a little thing called under legal age duhhh their kids are innocent bystanderds so stop runnin ur mouth about it on here and say something to the schools stop throwin ur racism on the kids loser
