but in the meantime innocent employees have to suffer name calling and threats from the public. That's not right. They are just trying to feed their families like everyone else. Remember that.

I work in a government job and we get an employee appreciation banquet every year in the fall and an employee picnic in the late spring paid for. We also have an extremely low turnover rate and most employees are very content, efficient and hard working. You get out of your employees what you put into them. I worked hard to get my job and have worked hard to keep it. It baffles me that people begrudge others who have a good job. A lot of what I am seeing on Topic comes across as jealousy and pettiness. As far as hotel charges go, call around to hotels and ask them about their fees and prices. It is high anymore.

I was upset when I first saw the news about the spending on the company banquet. I called a friend of mine that works at MUS. She explained the dollar amount really looks bad, but I needed to look at the big picture. MUS has 135 employees - so that is only about $115.00 per employee. When you look at it like that, then it seems reasonable to me. Please not criticize all the employees for the bad judgement of management.

Would anything be said if each employee got a gift card for $115.00.? Probably because all people sees is the big dollar sign picture but, the next time a storm hits and your power goes out think about who you are going to call. MUS employees that are home having dinner with their families but, they drop what they are doing and head out to take care of the customers to get their services back on in all kinds of weather because that is their job.A job that doesn't end @ 5 o'clock. They are on call 24/7.., think about that.

Thats what everyone is missing.......just because you control the checkbook for the agency doesnt mean you own the checkbook. Its not your money, the agency is not yours, the equipment isnt yours and the employees are not your property. You are mearly a steward of the agency. Use common sense in spending and dealing with the real owners, the public. I believe these failings are why people are upset, not personal anymosity.

Exactly!!! Are these outdoor arguing in here too dumb to understand who is PAYING for all this stuff?? ANY PERSON paying for service through MUS is paying for the movies, steak dinners,$100 gift cards, flat screen tv's, and hotel movies. If you can't afford to get these kind of things for you and YOUR OWN FAMILY, then you should not want to pay for a stranger to eat $500 meals and valet park!!!

then are you jealous if your neighbor because they have a newer car or better lawn? Maybe you need to seek better employment or just be thankful for all the blessings that you have. Envy and begrudging dies not get anyone anything better. Hard work and thankfulness does. Sorry you can't afford big things for your family, I will be praying things turn around for you and your family.

You miss the point. The neighbor isn't spending public monies like MUS did. What the neighbor does is his business, but what MUS does is the rate payers' business.

No Connie, I own a business and do fine! What is sad is you people can't understand that IT IS NOT MUS money to spend!! If you found out the Police Department was having $20,000 parties and renting $20 movies while they were supposed to be patrol on your tax dollar would you feel differently???

the police department deserves a party larger than that! It would not bother me in the least. And I hope that if they are patrolling they wouldn't be watching a movie, but if they were traveling and doing training, it would not bother me if they watched movie after training that day, I would be happy for them. And I beg to differ with you, I feel that once you pay for your utilities, you have no say so in the way the money is spent,. Just my opinion. You all that hate MUS wil probably cuss me out, but that's how I feel.

Do other non-profits in the City and County spend like MUS did/does? I hope not. So, when MUS increases rates to cover their spending habits, I assume you'll have no problem with that. No one hates MUS. We "hate" their lack of stewardship and total lack of oversight for a non-profit organization.
