You've gotta be freaking kidding me. Main and secondary roads have been clear since Saturday as far as I can tell, we've had 2 extra days, and STILL no school??

Snoopy, you need to get out and see ALL the backroads, and not just those around you. One kid falls on snow/ice and the school system is sued for big bucks. Are you willing for your taxes to go up to pay that bill? It's not that the roads aren't safe...it's the lawsuits that are just waiting to happen. Will you pay the first yourself?

I'm not sure that I buy that. They surely don't call off school in other parts of the country for an inch of snow that has laid for a week, and you don't hear about them being swamped with lawsuits.

I live in Russellville. These roads still have ice & some snow in places. So NO NOT ALL OF THE BACK ROADS ARE CLEAR.

Sometimes it's about bringing a million or so square feet up to 70 degrees with heat systems installed by the low bidder.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Jefferson County.
Kentucky.
West Virginia.
Parts of Virginia.

Many states don't have the proper snow removal equipment or resources.

And everywhere is scared of lawsuits by parents of students vs school systems, children of old people vs. nursing homes, employees vs. employers, etc.

To many Americans think they are entitled to a free ride in life and if they get hurt due to their own stupidity, they want to blame someone else and not accept personal responsibility.

There is still ice on the roads and the temperature is supposed to be 20 degrees tonight. Not much chance that ice is going to melt at 20 degrees.
