Today I watched a Morristown city police officer remove all the yard sale signs from along West Andrew Johnson Hwy. I was told he threw them away and if you want to have a sign posted then you have to obtain a $25.00 permit from the city, every time you have a yard sale. The reason for this as stated by the police department was because of the look of the signs being such an eye sore. I cannot begin to tell you what I think about the way this city looks. When this city council has allowed illegals to park 12 cars in yards in what used to be good neighborhoods (around 400 Drinnon Drive to name one), please take the tax payers money and aggravate the poor old peole trying to have a yard sale!!! Radio Center looks like a 3rd world country. This town has gone to pot in the last 7 or 8 years. Whoever the city council offical or the big shot is that is worried about peoples little yard sale signs you need to be voted out. Do something about all the illegals all over this place then worry about the yard sale signs. Do something about 15 people living in 1 house and absolutely ruining peoples property values. You realtors who rent to illegals please rent them something in your neighborhood. Move them in beside you and listen to the loud music and watch them roast pigs in the back yard.

Amen, LTP. I was at a yard sale this morning off AJ hwy. and the lady was commenting about her sign being taken down on that end of town but she said even people who obtained a permit and advertised in the paper got their sign taken down. Why didn't they pull signs all over town instead of certain areas. Is it because some city council member lives in that area? I've heard the signs on the west end are taken down, never heard of any taken down on the east end.
I also think something needs to be done about the illegals hanging their laundry out on the top rail of their apt. building and all over the bushes in the front. If they want to talk about eye sore then why don't they start making people put all their garbage in a container and stop throwing out clothes, and all kinds of trash that could be put in their trash cans. It gets blown away in the wind and torn up by animals. Some people just want to live like animals and they should be impounded with the rest of them at the shelter. If I have more than a trash can full, I wait till the next week to dispose of trash. I don't want the front of my house trashed up but some people don't care.

No one can tell a property owner how many vehicles he may or may not have on the property. same goes for the number of people in a house this is something the money hungry landlord turned the other cheek for. If you truly don't appreciate this take it up with the property owners. Look up property records it is very easy
http://www.assessment.state.tn.us/SelectCount...
Then contact the owner of the house yourself. As far as the yard sale signs this happens because many people "conveniently" forget to remove their signs; which are then left to rot on the side of the street. Some counties will fine you for each sign they take down.

I was curious and attempted to use the link provided to see my property records.

This has to be the worst search software on the internet. Never did find my assessment.

I know what you are saying about the signs being left and all but me and a friend were having a yard sale just off South Cumberland and were putting a sign in the neighbors yard because they said it was okay and here come a little cocky cop who said we couldn't put it there and made us take it down, but we pointed out to him there were several signs up on South Cumberland and he said he was on his way to get them. He left, we turned around to see if he did but guess what? He didn't and even later that evening my friend went to get something to eat and those signs were still up.So I figure it's all in who you know and who you blow.

Charge $25 for every election sign when its election time and maybe some debts could b paid off However we know how this got started. Its all because of the election signs being put out everywhere and the public fussed about it. Next the ones running said" what about all those yard sale signs." Get a clue..........Maybe they need to get together and vote to ship back all illegals

We can't have anything illegal in the street. Yet we have streets full of illegals. There is something there that just don't fit. Hey Police , Enforce all the laws or nobodys going to follow any laws. If we don't have to worry about the laws, we sure don't need to pay for cops.

We need to remember this next sheriff election. And you're right about those election signs. They are large and obsruct view and could be dangerous if strong wind blew them into a pedestrian. Hey, we should complain right now. Is there a website to communicate with the sheriff's dept.? We could start a petition online. Send them names. Well I'd be afraid to tell them my real name, know what I man. But I'd sure post something on their website if I knew where to post. Anyone know?

It's a sad day in this world when our law enforcement is reduced to picking up yard sale signs. Really, they should complain themselves about having to pick them up when they could be doing something better to serve our people. Let's see, would picking up illegals and deporting them be a better way to serve our town? I know it's going to make some people angry that I even mentioned it, but the truth is the truth. Let's all take notice of the election signs this year and if any sign says "Re-Elect", don't. If I have too, I will do a write-in vote for Bugs Bunny.

I notice a lot of Realty signs too that block driver's view too and are everywhere cluttering up the neighborhoods. Well, I wouldn't personally blame the sign removal on the deputys. They most likely were told to pull the signs up and had no choice unless they wanted to get in hot water with the chief. I blame the chief for it. He gives the orders. It must have been brought up in council meetings or else talked about by a member of society that complained personally to the chief. That person most likely never had to have a yard sale to make ends meet.

Yep, and they sure don't have to worry about a temp service offering the council illegals at half price to replace them either. Gotta love that council and chief , just looking out for themselves with no care for the welfare of the community.

I hate the behavior in this town, esp. by the police department. I have seen this as well on buffalo trail. It's an ugly neighborhood, let people put a small sign up and quit ruining their chances of getting some money to replace what the government is taking already, would you please, Asshole (AKA Sheriff Jarnigan)

The sign ordinance got passed by some committee or council. Blame them not the police. They are doing their job. I'd hate to hear of a cop getting hit by a car, picking up damned signs. Look back, you'll find some old stuffy ass that brought up the sign issue and City council that voted on it.

Do not blame the cops ? Really ? Let me get this right frank. It is ok to enforce a law made by some commitee, but enforcment of federal laws are subjective? I do believe federal laws trump city ordinance. But thats ok. As long as cops ignore all federal laws I can agree. So let's allow bank robbery and kidnapping too. Those are federal laws also. Illegal aliens have destroyed your wages and town, yet people do not hold those responsible who take an oath and tax payer money to protect and serve the citizens. Your towns a cesspool and full of weak people who get what they deserve.

Dont get a cob up your ass at me. Is it their job to enforce every law? Even a sign? Even little piddly shit? YES, it is. Local, state and Federal laws. Is it easier to pull a sign up than arrest an illegal and hand him over to authorities? Yes it is. The whole thing is strapped down with red tape. If it was as easy as pulling up a sign or writing a ticket for some silly shit, then thered be no illegals in MoTown, right? Heck, weve got a president that wont even go clamp down on illegals. I don't live in Morristown but I shop there on occasion. Hardly recognize the place. For the record, I think the yard sale sign stuff is silly and Illegals should be deported. Hell, half of your illegals are hiding out in White Pine and are working in Morristown. Settle down a little, I'm with you.
