It has come to my attention that Elmer Vanover drowned yesterday in Panther Creek Park. If anyone knows his friends or family, I'm sure they could use some words of comfort.

I am not aware of the details of the funeral arrangements at this time.

You're completely right. I'm in shock right now...I called Mayes and the lady told me the family wasn't going to have any arrangements and he was to be cremated. I understand it's their choice but I wish there was some place I could go to pay my respects...

just like the name reads. Im not surprized. Maybe its for the better. Regardless of how sweet people thought he was. Maybe its for the better. He did have alot of enemies who wont miss him. And he did run his mouth alot to people. maybe that the elmer most people didnt see. The elmer I remember was a drug dealer/user who was always in trouble for something. Even his mom distanced herself from him because he would steal money from her and use her. He's talked trash to so many people in life. Things such as "I'll shoot" this person or that person during times when he would act so hardcore. Maybe you havent seen that side of him. Others have though whether or not you choose to hide it and damn me for writing such a TRUE comment. Like i was always raised and told though...If the truth hurts..fix it. We all reap what we sow. On the other hand, he will be missed by those who loved him and saw his good side. So for those of you who have...best wishes during your mourning and sorry for your loss.

Harsh honesty, no one can lay blame on you for that. Sure people will say your lying but anyone this honest cant be. Anyone who is 101% cant be that bad in my book. Thank you.

Yeah, I will admit even as Elmer's friend that he had his share of problems. He never got along with his family and him being as small as he was it's no suprise he tried to be as big as he could so he wouldn't get picked on...which was alot. I met him probably 9 years ago and he was always so nice to me and always remembered exactly who I was whenever I saw him out no matter how many years went by. I'm sure even though he never got along with his family, they're probably in alot of pain right now and I pray for them...

Well obviously he was swimming...I'm not that dumb. But with the talk of him being on drugs I didn't know if he was high/drunk/etc. which therefor ended up with him drowning...Do you find it fun to mis-interpret people who are concerned with their friend's passing and the details? Have some sympathy.

a soulmates testiments
Stars of forgotten dreams light up the night
your smile captures even the most simplist of details
while i watch your candy coated lips lustful demand
i start to realize minus the pearly gates were in heaven
as tears of silent happiness roll down your cheek
my hand is right there to catch ever watchfull
while you may cry in happiness
my soul cries in sorrow
am i destined to lose your grace, your esscence that is so wonderfully you
As i see our bundle of joy slip out in the hospital, then and there I took an
oath to always stand by your side
Even as the passing years slowly detroy our youth
and our passion starts to decay
I would never again want to be glanced upon as you have glanced
for our love ha always been the bridge
in which i have crosse and been promisland bound
as long as we continue to watch our children grow
and our love expand, knowing that eath within so many years will come to seperate us
I want you to know that in the ground i may go
may peace be with you for all of your days
As i will wait for you right here by the gates
know that though i may be gone, my spirit in you i will stay
so we may enter together
and share our love for all eternty
I LOVE YOU

I am Elmer's mother. I don't know how you heard of my son's death, but I wish you had not placed it on the internet. Out of respect, I should have been able to tell my family in my own way and time. This is a private matter and our hearts break. My son was clean and sober when he died. He was enjoying the day with the girl he loved. His arrangements are final and there is to be a service; but not in Tennessee. Let God be his judge!

I went to school with Elmer, and he lived at my house for a while. He was a great friend. As for Elmer's mother, I found out while looking on wbir.com . I knew him from 6th grade all the way through senior year in high school. Last time I talked to him, he told me he was doing a lot better.

I'm sorry for your loss. I wish I could attend the funeral, but I won't be able to drive to KY.
