I worked there a few years ago and let me tell u it was like being in high school again! U had to fit into a "group" it was stupid! The supervisor also let the youger prettier girls do whatever the hell they wanted! I can't remember his name but he was an ass hole unless u looked like a whore! The machines run really fast so u have to be fast. On ur feet all day. NO sit down jobs at all so if u don't like standing all day u would not want to go there either. I hated it there! Good luck!

Don't forget the endless paper cuts and swollen hands. That place is soooo hard on your body. And don't forget that they lay people off all the time, then hire temps. There is no secure position at Ampad....ever! They have been going under and have been sold numerous times. Now, the majority of their plant is in Mexico. It sucks, their supervisors suck, their occurance system sucks, their benefits suck, and the ladies in the office are idiots. They will mess up your payroll more than they won't. Your better off at McDonald's!

I worked there for about 6 years from about 95 until 01. When I first started, it was Williamhouse. It was a pretty good place to work. They only had 1 shift (days) then. You were hired in at a certain rate and basically guaranteed a raise on schedule every 6 months if your performance record was good. The equipment was well cared for and maintained, new hires were properly and intensively trained then observed before being left alone, and the equipment ran well. That is exactly the way it went for the first couple of years.

They opened up 2nd shift and things were still good. Most of the 2nd shift were people who moved from days but had experience and training.

Then they opened 3rd shift...and it all went right to shit. They brought in some new supervisors from random other plants...some of which didnt know what they were doing, and some of which were grade-A assholes. They filled some positions with new hires, a lot of these people had little to no training. They forced a lot of the machine adjusters from 1 and 2 shifts to split the 3rd shift. Since they were running wide open 24/6 and stopped scheduling downtime and maintenance days, the equipment condition and production fell off considerably.

Production demands went up, maintenance and part availability went down. They wanted you to fix everything with tape, instead of parts. More equipment was brought in, most of it used and in poor repair, but they expected it to run and produce like new.

Raises stopped being given out to the veterans. New adjusters were hired in off the street with no experience at higher rates than the trained guys. The new guys f**ked up things constantly and the other guys had to try and set things right on a daily basis, which became impossible to do.

After a bankruptcy and buyout with some new front office management, and more of the same BS, is when I got the heck out of dodge. I still know a few people who work there, and according to them it hasn't gotten any better. Now they fill positions with mexicans from temp agencies who don't speak english. A lot of the equipment has been shipped to mexico plants, and the trained guys were actually sent down to train their replacements.

As bad as it was when I left, I'd hate to see how it is now.

I use to work there bout 10 years ago & ya you do get a lot of papercuts but I would rather have that job than no job at all. I'm laid off from another factory now so....... Some people did get away with more than others then but it's like that in other places too. I've worked in 2 factories & it was the same way in both places. I think it's all over & it's not just factories. I've had harder jobs than that lol.

I have been with Ampad for 11yrs. Yes you do work hard, you do get paper cuts, and yes the machines run fast. But it is a very easy job, you just have to be good at what you do.
We do have a factory in Mexico which is doing very well. But our Morristown facility is the best plant overall for our company.
I have had my payroll check messed up one time, I think we have good benefits.
Sometimes it does suck and there is favortism, but that is at all work places.

Well I currently work at Ampad and for you that knows everything about Ampad we are still running strong in Morristown. Most of our machines did move to Mexico but that was about 5 years ago and none has moved since. We have very few temps in the plant now and the temps we do have are from the good old United States. If you think this job is hard than you must be like all the other Americans expecting to draw a check for doing absolutely nothing. You are probably some type of lame lazy worker that struggles to wipe your own ass. It is the easiest job you could ever find that is why the full time employees that are their have worked there for 10+ years. It is like most manufacturing facilities though and do indeed deal with a bunch of bs. The women up front do lack in some areas but for the most part it is a damn good place to work for. We receive quarterly bonuses and have received two cost of living raises in the past three months now tell me where in Morristown can you find that? So if you are afraid of doing what is asked of you then don't waste your time or our time coming here to work cause we can operate just fine without you. On other hand if you want to be successful and look at making positive gains then we would love for you to stop by and drop a rsume off. Good luck in the future and for you that think you know everything about Ampad fuck off!! There is a reason why you are no longer there.

There is a reason why I am not there! I wanted a college degree, and a professional job. You are a factory rat who is comfortable being just that. Talk about wanting to be successful and bettering yourself? I'm sure their retirement will be great when your body is all wore out from your excellent job. OH WAIT! Ampad stopped contributing to their retirement! Hope you are saving all of your bonus's and raises!!!

You think you know it all Huh? Ampad does contribute to our retirement, and I bet this guy makes more than you do with your college degree. And by the way he can take his degree and go anywhere he wants with it. I just love how some people think they know everything.

You sound like exactly one such person (one who thinks they know everything).

The bottom line was, at least the last couple of years I was there, there is no opportunity for advancement (pay or position) there unless you are a grade-A ass kisser. I was not one, which is the major reason I am no longer there. I expected to continue to be moved up on the pay scale which is what I was promised when I took the job, instead about halfway up the ladder I was told I should be happy with what I had and they would talk to me about it again in 6-12 months.

I dont know who is upper management there now, but Ron Hinton was nothing but a liar who would tell you whatever it took to get you out of his office.

Is Tom still the 2nd shift supervisor? Did they ever wise up and get rid of that lazy d!ckhead supervisor Secrist on 2nd shift?
