He was sitting in the chair outside the booking room. He had been watched all night. The jail is a miserable place and it is overcrowded but it is not a detox center and it is not a hospital.

You bunch of morons - always looking to blame the sheriff, the jailers, the officers, the weather, anything or anybody except the person who is 110% responsible for their situation and that is the INMATE! the CRIMINAL! the LAW BREAKER! And the only ones who ever get on here and take that position are people who have been on the wrong side of the law themselves.

You bunch of tard bunnies that idiot was a junkie who couldn't live without getting high, and now he won't live from being high. Tards wanna blame a bunch of think-less idiots (jailers)for the death of an even bigger think-less idiot(junkie)! Granted we might not have the greatest jail in Hamblen county, but it sure as hell can't be blamed for a junkie dying from withdrawal from a poison that he put into his own body. I suppose all you liberal socialist types will jump on the band wagon and condemn the law enforcement officers for not kicking his door in and stopping him from shooting up before he was taken to jail get a life !

hate to say it but I have had experience there and they were horrilbe. if i had been sick I am sure my fate would have been the same. i dont think it is esco's fault. i just think it sucks to work there and the people who work there have grown cold hearted and don't care about inmates

We've all done stuff that we shouldn't have done, or wish we wouldn't have done. If he was that ill, he should have been taken to the hospital.

A "criminal" has every right to be taken care of when ill. People like you are the real criminals of society. You don't even have any compassion for another human life, just because he may have stolen something or got a DUI. Or whatever it was, he doesn't deserve to die just because he made a bad decision.

The truth is that they don't care. They won't even give a diabetic his insulin until he screams and ends up in solitaire just to get the insulin he needs to keep from going into diabetic shock and dying.

I don't care if he was a junkie or not. I didn't know the man. But I know several individuals who did. He had seizures, they should have given him his meds, regardless of what he had done. We are all human, we all have our faults, just some worse than others. He has family that are mourning his loss. Give them some respect.

SO THEN IT IS OK FOR THE JAILERS,THE SHERIFF TO BREAK THE LAW. THE SHERIFF AND STAFF ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE OF INMATES NO MATTER WHAT REASON INMATE IS JAILED. THE JAILERS AND SHERIFF BREAK LAW BY NOT TAKING CARE O INMATE. IF INMATE NEEDS HELP THEY SHOULD GIVE HELP OR IF THEY ARE NOT PROPERLY TRAINED TO GIVE HELP THEN THEY SHOULD GET SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP.
SO SICK OF HEARING POOR SHERIFF,POOR JAIERS,POOR STAFF. THIS IS THE JOB THEY CHOSE. THEY CHOSE THIS JOB THEN FOLLOW THE POLICIES.

Their job is not to babysit whiny ass prisoners. It is to keep them locked up away from us the public. Their job is to serve and protect the good decent people not babysit and clean up after loser pillheads. If they die it is too bad but they should have thought about the consequences before they shoved that pill up their nose or committed whatever crime they did. I'm sick of all these losers blaming other people. Look at what that pillhead did in bean station. I wont cry one tear if he dies detoxing.

wow. Bet the whole county is shaking in their boots. Let me guess,, the next thing you say is everyone makes mistakes and no one should judge a criminal. So predictable. So your kid is already in jail or you just guessing they'll wind up there? So you'll own a town full of pillheads. My sympathy is with the criminals victims. Maybe you should think of kharma if you unleash a criminal into society.

Why don't you ask the family and friends of people who have been killed or hurt by pillheads or drunk drivers what they think should happen to your precious criminals. Shouldn't they be able to take everything from the criminals and their families? Why should a criminals family get money when most victims get nothing? Where is the kharma there.

Prisoners are entitled to medical care under the 8th amendment to Constitution forbidding cruel and unusual punishment. I expect law enforcement to follow the law.
