I got a traffic ticket in morristown and I have no job

The clerk said I had to pay it in full and cant make payments on it, she said I could see the Judge but will be told the same thing PAY IN FULL ONLY OR TAKE DL

I am poor out of work and cant pay it right now and now they are going to take my DL so I cant drive to look for work etc

I need my DL to look for work etc. I have an interview next week!

I am to see the Judge Monday, can I ask for community service? Or A pmt plan. 200.00 is a lot when out of work. I could pay 20.00 a week some how but was told they didn't take partial payments!

They wont even accept a payment unless its in full!

How can they punish poor people like this!

Well don't break the law and you won't have to worry. If they take your DL you can apply for a restricted one which will allow you to drive certain times to look for a job or get to work. I would suggest borrowing the money from someone. If you can pay the clerks office $20.00 a week you could pay a family member or friend the same. Normally when you get a ticket you usually have several weeks before your court date and I'm sure this is the case with your ticket. Why didn't you save up the money? As many people as they have on community service now I highly doubt that they would take someone for a traffic violation. You can ask for a payment plan but likely won't get it.

Go to the mexican stores and get a fake ID. Then register a piece of crap car under it to drive in. You won't have to worry about insurance, tickets or anything. Just change your name after any incedents. Works for the illegals ,so it should be ok for everyone right?

I do odd jobs, get about 50.00 to 200.00 a week MAYBE!

It goes for food gas and other bills and I still cant make it

I have to eat and pay for roof over head, I get no government help etc like most!

What I get in money is gone on food gas elec bill etc right away .

I can spare maybe 20.00 a week to go on fine BUT THEY refuse to take that!!!!

So you ran a stop sign? Hope you looked both ways and didn't kill anyone.

A traffic citation is not like a medical bill. They won't take payments. Why put you on community service when it isn't a misdemeanor??? Think about that one. It's a freaking traffic ticket.

Again, I suggest borrowing it from someone, paying it and moving on. Got anything you can pawn? Got anything you can sell? Got a car title you can borrow against? Got a checking account? If so go to one of these check advance places and do it that way. If you can afford to pay 20.00 a week to the clerks office, you could pay 20.00 a week towards a pawn or to whomever you borrow from. Otherwise, you will lose your license.

Don't get me wrong, it pisses me of to that the city get $200 bucks for nothing, but at the same time, you should have had months to pay for your $200 dollar ticket, if you went to court even longer, and if you couldn't come up with the money in that amount of time, you might as well call yourself a failure at life and end it all. I mean seriously, you can pawn your tv, jewelry, hexbox, or even just sell your car. It's $200 bucks, what are you like 12 years old? If you don't have $200 dollars worth of assets to stay out of jail you're a failure of monumental proportions.

I bet it's been more than 10 weeks since you got the ticket right? Did you save $20 dollars a week so you would have $200 saved by now? No? If you don't have enough discipline to do that as a adult, then you fail at life, and have no business driving a car anyway.

If you had a valid DL at the time of the citation, the court should remove that charge. It should not be $200 for the stop sign violation alone. Hope this helps you and please be more careful.

There is more to your story. If you didn't have your DL in your possession at the time you were cited then all you have to do is take your DL to court with you and show that it is valid and that will be dismissed and I also found a website showing the cost of fines for running a stop sign and the 1st offense is only $50.00. Here is the link

So, if you want sound advice you might want to give all the details.

If you actually have a divers license then the fine for that violation will be reduced when you show it. Instead of the $89.75 you will only pay a $25 admin fee. So thats $89.75 for running the stop sign and $25 for not having your DL with you. Thus meaning you will need to pay $114.75. City court does not do community service. How ever you can go to court and ask for an additional 30 days to come up with the money. If you save just under $30 a week you can pay it before your time runs out. If you can't afford to pay a ticket then don't break the law. If you can't afford to lose your license then you better figure out how to pay it. If you get suspended over it then not only will you still have to pay the ticket but will have to pay the state a reinstatement fee. Plus risk going to jail while suspended. I would think it in your best wishes to pay the ticket and move on.

Cities have a code of their own that set the standards for a moving violation. The City of Morristown has a general violation fee of $76.00 some violations have to also pay the state a $13.75 fee thus making the fine for most all violations is $89.75 with the exception of no license and seatbeats. If it were issued to have the person appear before state court then the fine could very well be less for the same violation, but a city has the right to set fines in their limits.

I mis-quoted a no drivers license fine.. it is $105.50 not $89.75, but the dismiss fee is still $25. The orginal poster most likely had a citation for $195.25, but if they show a valid drivers license then the fine will be $114.75.

I SHOWED A DAMN VALID DL IN CITY COURT

But since i didn't pay the fine BEFORE court date and went to court they wouldn't drop it

I went to court and showed the DL and couldn't pay the fine on stop sign IN FULL ...so they didn't drop the no DL...the total is 222.00

I got this ticket end of July court was 3rd week of Aug

Went to court hoping they would drop the DL ticket since I have them, and pay on stop sign ticket and I had saved 80.00 towards the fine

They wouldn't drop the DL and would not take a 80.00 payment on the fine THEY WANTED ALL AT ONCE i didn't have it!

Dude, you got a ticket. It isn't like a hospital bill where they turn you over to a collection agency and let you make payments. Guess you should have saved more than $80.00. Sounds like your up the creek.

As others have said. go pawn something. Surely you have something to pawn or sell or someone to borrow from. I'd rather pawn something than lose my license.

Since you seem to be so helpful with advice, I believe you, and several of the other posters with all the brilliant ideas, should come foward and assist the poster 'cant' with his financial issues. Help a fellow citizen out. I am sure he will pay you back.

Yeah ok. Why would I help someone pay a ticket when he shouldn't of gotten one in the first place? Don't break the law and you have no worries. And before anyone ask, I am 49 and have yet to have one accident or one traffic citation, ever.
