They can't compete with Walmart. And they don't seem to have the same amount of customers that I used to see. I really do think Walmart was a mistake but I'm sure that people working there are glad to have the jobs. So... who pays the price?

It's always been that way. Just because the name is Dollar General doesn't mean everything is a dollar. If you are broke and need savings then go to Wal Mart. Nobody can beat their prices. In Dollar Tree everything is a dollar but Wal Mart has a lot of that stuff cheaper too.
Like the new boxes of mix to make 12 cupcakes. They are one dollar at Dollar Tree. They are 94 cents at Wal Mart.

Then you need to hand them back to them. Tell them to call a manager.
The coupons will work. They just have to be entered by hand and most employees are too dang lazy to do it. Or they act like if you use a coupon it's comming out of their paychecks. If I have a coupon the cashier needs to take it off my order and not give any lip about it.

You should try the Dollar General at Buffalo Trail, it is clean and the employees are nice.

I'll bet you are using more gas to go to wal mart, risking a red light ticket and will buy more items than you intended to. I'll keep going to dollar stores .

Why would you risk getting a red light ticket? If you STOP at the red light then you don't have anything to worry about.

Or you can check the coupon see if it valid and the dollar store will honor it. Coupons aren't honor everywhere.

Dollar General and Family Dollar BOTH accept coupons. Dollar Tree doesn't accept them. Most places do take them. I know for a fact that at some of the Dollar Generals the cashiers wouldn't accept the coupons because they were too lazy to scan them. Or they just didn't want to.
The stores accept the coupons so the cashiers need to take them. It's not taking money out of their pockets although some act as if it is.

I have even seen cashiers look down on customers for using coupons like they couldn't afford to purchase something without the coupon. Coupons can yield you great savings and in this day and time I don't know too many people who have extra money to throw away. If you can save a few cents or dollars then definately do it.

Have you been to Wal Mart lately? Since when does anybody get dressed up for Wal Mart?

Another issue that I've found is driving me to shop at WalMart more instead of Dollar General or Family Dollar is they will not accept internet printed coupons. I know there have been fraud issues and it's why I make sure to stick to the reputable coupon sites. Manufacturers will up the cents off the coupons you print yourself like you might see a coupon in the packs from the Sunday paper for .75 cents off a product but online you can print your own coupon for $1.00 off that same product. The manufacturers give you the extra savings because they aren't having to pay to have the coupons printed. I use coupons as much as I can and it's amazing how much you can save once you start looking at your receipt. My husband used to gripe about me using coupons until he saw how much I was saving and now he will ask me if I have coupons on things he wants to buy. LOL Anyway, WalMart will honor internet printed coupons where no other store in Morristown I know of will do so.
