I want to warn the people of Whitesburg before they connect to the sewer system, This is an example of my bill, I use very little water, as I live alone, don't have a dish washer, I take a shower most day's, but not alway's, I was a load of clothe's maybe one time a week, not alway's that, My last bill I had used 11 unit's which is not above the minimum amount of water at 14.00 a month, My total bill was 59.71. I am low income & find it hard to pay,. I tried to get off the sewer, but was told I wasn't allowed to get off, once you are are already on. I was so happy when I heard we were (Russellville) going to be able to have sewer, but now I regreat ever getting hooked to it. If you have a water leak, LOOK OUT, BIG TROUBLE!!!! The rate I pay averages 120.00 every 2 month's, so I would gladly get whole new septic system it would be cheeper in long run. THINK BEFORE YOU SIGN ON. They do not tell you all this before hand. They also raise the rate's (& add all kind of taxes & mantiance fee's ) Just a warning. I have thought about moving, & a family I know would not rent from a man that was connected to the sewer, because of the price of water & sewer.

Who do you pay ? Perhaps, you should call them and discuss a different billing cycle. If your income is the same year around, it wouldn't make much difference, but some have a better income in the summer months. I know I do...

You'll pay 3,600 0r 3,900 to hook up. After that you will pay a double charge of what the city customer would pay. I'm paying 69.00 a month cause of the double charge. If you have a large family you could pay 300.00 -400.00 a month. Do you want that? You will pay to run it on to your house from the road also. If you ever have a water leak you better have several hundred dollars saved up. If not they will cut your water off. People have had their water cut off cause they couldn't pay the high sewer bill.

Call them. There seems to be a problem in the accounting department. Water and sewer couldn't possibly be that expensive. Those numbers are higher than my electric bill.

It is true. Right now in Morristown it is : for every dollar of water used, there is an additional $3.50 sewer charge. $1.00+ $3.50=$4.50. And the rates are going up again about 25%. THe reason is that when the sewer was privatized, the city promised so much sewer usage and when the factories left, the resident had to make up the difference.

I have called, talked to them in person, & there is no mistake in billing. I don't know why Russellville-Whitesburg's bill is so much higher. I have talked to our county commisoner, the person in charge at local office, plus the guy in Morristown, over sewer. I feel for the person with large family that uses lot's of water. Ligh'ts, Gas, Phone & now Water. The increase in price for the thing's you need for every day living. Somethime's I wonder how much longer I can hold on & afford the basic's.

I thought your sewer bill would be the same as the water bill. The amount used in utility water in, and the sewer would be return of water purchased. That's the way it used to be, so now it is different?

I don't know how they come up with their charges, here is my last month's bill I used 11 unit's of water (which is below min. amount)at $18.00, Sewer $39.60, Upgrade .33 (this is added at different times) Sales Tax $1.28, & Cnty Tax .50, Total bill was $59.71. This hard for people on fixed income to pay. Remember the water & sewer rate's can be raised at any time. I am thinking about looking into apts. for elderly low income,( which I really don't hate to do ) Water you can not do without, I don't know why more people have not spoken out, because most in this neighbor hood are one fixed income's. I wish someone would look into this.

I'll speak out! Its a double charge that people should stand up and demand everyone pay the same. This is highway robbery! No,poor people can't pay this double charge! Its not fair to charge a few and everyone else gets half charges.

Why don't you call them and inquire about the rates? City rates and county rates. You'll be surprised.
wish some would help

I have called them, I deon't think they can give a reason. I wonder what goes on in our public office's. One month my bill showed I had used no water at all. I called to report mistake because I had been home the whole month & knew I had used water, sure enough a few hour's later someone calls & says you dont have a leak.( I already knew this because I had checked the meter myself) Of course the next months bill had a reading for 2 months. How do you explain STUPID & who do you call? I can't get any answers from county or city, but sonething needs to be done soon before I lose my SANITY.
