On to topic at hand, does anyone know anything about Dr. Jett and Healthstar? He is a Dr. of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
He is wonderful. In my business we deal with every doctor, hospital, FNP, Psych, etc. He is a good man, MOST of his patients have nothing bad to say. The ones that do usually don't like that he's not big on narcotics. All in all, you couldn't ask for a better doc. I know several patients who wouldn't trade him for the world.

So what the heck does ISP stand for? I have thought it to be a little strange that so many different names are from little Russellville, TN.
Speaking of Medical people, last Monday I was examined by an excellent liver specialist at Vanderbilt. On March 17th, I will be examined by hopefully, an excellent surgeon at the same place will check out a hernia that nobody wants to have any part of repairing. This tells me it is NOT your average hernia that is simple to repair.
The only pain I have, and it is intense, is coming from my hip. Next week or as soon as possible, I will be going to Dr. Jett. I cannot make myself believe that he will be much better than a
Chiropractor that I went to for months about back and shoulder problems. Alas, all of those visits were for nothing, no improvement whatsoever. I guess if Dr. Jett cannot help with my pain I will go to somebody else but first things first. Stay tune friends and neighbors.
Jerry, if your pain can be helped, Jett will help it. Other "pain" docs in town (Chavin, Foster who's in knox now, and the worst of all....MOHAMED) are nothing but pill pushers. They will never help you get better...only dependent more and more on them for addictive and dangerous drugs. From all the post I've read from you, I know you don't want those other docs. Jett is the man who will try his best.

Just as good as a doctor (if not better) without the name and the overhead. I actually prefer a PA or FNP. They will take the time to listen to you and help you.

I do have to say it is ignorance that makes people say "do not go to a doctor in Morristown." Nurses, doctors, dentists, etc...all train at the same places. Last I checked there were no medical schools in Morristown, as there are no NP or PA schools either. You will find idiots in every town, and you are better off going on the recommendation of a nurse who has worked with most of the local docs in the hospital - that's always the best person to ask. Nurses see doctors at their best and worst, and they know how they react under the most stressful situations, and they know the outcomes - good or bad- of the patients they care for. I always say a doctor is only as good as the nurses he/she surrounds himself with.
Under the best of circumstances, medical professionals are still only human. I have had some of my worst medical and nursing nightmares happen to my family members while in Knoxville hospitals (things happen that you would not even know were wrong if you weren't in the medical field); but the best care ever was at a Morristown hospital, so it just depends on the circumstances at the time, no matter where you are. Every medical provider has made an enemy or two, and every hospital as well. Bottom line is a little kindness and patience goes a long way when building a relationship with your healthcare providers.
I like reading these posts to get some feedback on what patients are looking for in a "good" medical care provider.
For the most part..
1) We want someone who will listen. Take the time to really listen. We know our bodies. We know when something is wrong, even if we don't know what it is.

2) If you don't know what is wrong with us, use your study skills, do a little research, and FIND OUT! Take some time between running in/out at warp speed & reflect on my symptoms, current meds, and known conditions.

3) Don't use us as ginny pigs. Don't push every new drug that the drug rep delivers. It is warranted, give me all the samples you want, but give it some thought first.

4) If I need a specialist, send me to one. Don't send me to a specialist for the slightest thing.

5) Atleast pretend like you care and not like we are just a number on a chart, a blurr in the over crowded, doubled booked lobby.

To all the doctors out there... this is what we want.

Dr. Jacques is ok. She's smart. She is involved in alot of drug testing for new drugs and old drugs for new diseases. She's doesn't have the greatest bedside manner from what I've heard but she knows what she's doing.

I'd pick her 10 to 1 over Mohammed. He's dangerous. A wrongful death suit waiting to happen.

Dr. Walker is relly good. He takes the time to listen to you and if he thinks you need a specialist he will send you to one. His office staff is excellent. Also another good family dr. is Dr. Yarid. He is very thorough.I would highly recommend them both.

I, for one am glad Dr. Prada left town.....he and the rest of the Healthstar staff should be shut down! What a cattle drive that is! THERE ARE NOT ANY DECENT DOCTORS IN THIS TOWN....Morristown gets all the ones who get out of Med school with a D-......... Make the trip to Knoxville if you must.....it's safer!!!! St. Mary's is too test happy.....if you have a splinter in your finger they'll try and give you an MRI, EKG and hemmhorroid exam.

I agree about most the Dr's in Mtown but there is a few good ones. Prada does have a god complex but he is a brilliant Dr. The reason he was recruited to FL is because he is a brilliant surgeon. One of the best in the nation. If I ever need a hip replacement, I'd want him to do it.

Why do you think they call them "Deathstar"??

I totally agree with you about the Healthstar doctors and Morristown Hamblen. They told my husband that he had high blood pressure when in fact it was much, much, much, much more serious. Needless to say, we are now at UT.

What so many people don't realize is that there are good and bad doctors at every hospital in every city. It's not just one hospital or practice in particular. The only advantage that Knoxville has over Morristown is newer technology. I have seen an FNP at Healthstar for the past couple of years and she has been wonderful. I am a nurse myself and would not trust just anyone. Some of you have spoken of "pill pushers." Well, they apparently have plenty of patients to push those pills to! If there weren't such a demand for pain clinics, they wouldn't exist. Alot of patients go into a Dr.'s office in search of that one little pill to cure whatever is wrong, when it often is not that simple. Then they refuse the recommended tests because they are so expensive, then get upset with the doctor because they can't diagnose the problem. Do you think they have x-ray vision? They are doctors, not miracle workers. I agree that there are some dangerous people practicing medicine, but it's simply wrong to pinpoint an entire group of physicians or a hospital as all being idiots!!!

I am pinpointing an entire hospital and the Healthstar physicians. I am sure there may be one or two that are intelligent and do a good job, but we sure didn't see them. Every one we have seen have been idiots.(Healthstar) Two doctors have even called to apologize for not doing their best and not researching the situation and symptoms thouroughly. They did not even order the correct tests. This has not just been a one time thing.

On the other hand, Phillips Medical Group is outstanding. They are very thourough and take all the time that is needed. Dr. Matthew Krause spent 2 hours with my husband, made a prelimanary diagnosis, sent us to a UT specialist, and hit the nail on the head. Not just high blood pressure and a sudden onset of seizures, but a brain tumor which turned out to be cancerous. If we had continued with Morristown Hamblen and their physicians, my husband would now be dead.(Not an exaggeration, but a statement of fact.) Healthstar doctors have been told to spend no more that 15-20 minutes with a patient because there is a certain number of people they are required to see in a day. This was told to me by a doctor that is no longer practicing with them for that reason.

I don't think that anyone is really giving any physician the benefit of the doubt. I also don't think that everyone else's situation is the same. Healthstar is a large organization that tends to go in the wrong direction but that does not mean that the doctors are at fault. There are awesome physicians at Healthstar. Every doctor has their strengths and weaknesses. I also do not think that it is right to call a physician an idiot. They made it through medical school didn't they? Did you?? Don't knock someone else and the education they received when you haven't been through the same.

So you suppose these comments are ALL made up? Hamblen people dissing lakeway and vice versa? How do you know that Dr. Matson's wife isn't typing all the great comments about him? Anyone can write anything, can't they?
Talk to your trusted friends at home, check out the hospital info from QMS website, don't listen to the hypochondriac who fails to get all the drugs he needs from on ER and then writes a bad review. Be careful who you listed to: you don't know any of us!
