My hubby and I have been watching this show called "Paranormal State" on A&E channel and are debating whether or not hauntings are the real deal. So I am curious...anyone know of any real or rumored places in the area that could be or have been reported to be haunted?
Halloween is right around the corner so I am just kicking it off a little early!
Any historians out there who have got some good dirt? Personal experiences?

well there is the old murrell home, but having been up there several times (also it is a lot smaller when you get up there than what you think it would be) I'd have to say that is a bunch of rumors. I know a lot of kids thought that old house on panther creek right before you get to the park on the right was haunted, but probably because it is old and abandoned. I'm pretty skeptical so I always take this stuff with a grain of salt. Here is one of many websites that do indexes of alleged haunted places in TN. http://theshadowlands.net/places/tennessee.ht...

I've always heard the pressman's home in Rogersville is haunted. There was an unfortunate fire there a while back that burned a couple of the old historical buildings. If you research the history of the pressman's home, it almost seems like if there are ghost, they'd be there.

Bethesda Church is supposed to be haunted by a Civil War soldier. When I was a teen, a bunch of us used to hang around there, and we all felt something watching us as we went around that church.

You heard right! Lots of stories about Pressmen's Home. Lights and figures in upper story windows of long ago vacant buildings.

You can take your pick of buildings in the downtown area of Rogersville that have ghosts. There is a group that does a "ghostwalk" tour through downtown. They cover alot of history about the town in addition to sharing their ghost hunt results of some of the buildings.

Some friends of my oldest have been there and they claim it is haunted, especially the men's dorm.

Try Bethesda Cemetary on a dark night. You just might be surprised.

I'm pretty sure the old house you're talking about is an old school house. I know the one at the end of Cedar Hill Rd on the right was the old Cedar Hill School and they look the same.

I always wanted to go back on Inman Bend Rd to the site where they filmed Evil Dead. That was one scary movie. I'm pretty sure someone burned the old cabin down right after the movie was released.

We used to go to a place called the Asylum in Knoxville accross the river from Pellissippi Hospital... I think it was actually an old dairy farm but we got run off from there many times... ahhh the old high school days. The place is probably a gated community now.

Internet Movie Data Base list the release in 1981. I remember the movie being made but I never saw it. Several locals were involved. The late Donnie Long told me he was listed in the credits.

Thank you. Is there a reason why they picked Morristown to make this film?

yeah the evil Dead cabin no longer stands.

As for Morristown college me and some friends spent a long time in all of those buildings one night..I wouldn't say it was haunted. I'd say the library where all the shelves have been knocked over and created a domino effect was creepy, but not haunted.

I have to see it to believe it and too often things are labeled haunted cause they are old and creepy, but oh well whatever floats people's boats.

i see on here that some of you have been talking about the movie Evil Dead well sure the movie was filmed in Morristown but did you know that the bridge that is used in the movie was shot in Newport? they used the road going to Bridgeport (that's on 25/70 for anyone who don't know) also the bridge is no longer there but you can see where it use to be, there is a white house directly in front of where it once stood, and they say that the house is haunted because of where some ppl were in a car wrack and went off in to the river and died but idk on that one but there is several places in Newport the is haunted!!!

There is the old school house in Cedar Hill but the haunted house is a little further down on Murrell Rd or maybe the next rd down. I know it was on one of the side roads off panther. It was a big old creepy house that sat empty for years. My father in law swears it was 110% haunted. From what I've heard, that ex-navy seal (my father in law) was scared silly. I have looked several times going that way but can't seem to see it anymore. My husband just told me he thought they tore it down.
