Anyone going this year or will it be a waste of time? Stopped going a few years ago. Has it improved?

Well sunshine, you probably should stay home. This year the parade is being organized out of necessity by the merchants and not the chamber and I'm sure since this is a new adventure for them, they will probably have some glitches . This a celebration of love and good cheer geared for children and I for one am wishing the workers much success.

If you don't have children, take a neighbor or just go in support of the participants and the community.

I was amazed how long it was. I underestimated badly. Anyone know how many displays were in it? I wander how much money the city collected on that?

Me and my 10tear old was very disappointed with the POLITICAL PARADE. I mean Christmas Parade. No fun at all. I grew up watching the parade in Morristown and this was the worst ever, No candy like there used to be. Not alot of firetrucks and no sirens at all. People please bring the good stuff back! I remember to Austin East band was there and they were awesome. The East and West Bands were great as well. The Shriners Cars were no fun to watch either this year. We were at the Library and it was so dull and sad.

On second thought it was probably expensive paying all the police etc. Hope it broke even.

Hey its great seeing someone else use their name. Welcome to the light. The parade wasn't that bad. It might have not been the best but it wasn't raining.

I thought it was great. My 7 year old was in it . There were firetrucks and where I was standing they turned on their sirens. And also my son got candy too when he and his daddy got back to watch the rest of the parade. It was better than nothing. If you didn't like then don't go. There are other ones around here like Gatlinburg and Knoxville.

I agree! I thought the parade was supposed to be about 'Christmas'.....not politics. I don't think i'll go anymore if it continues to be like that. The parade is supposed to be for the kids!

It's for sure that with your attitude the 10 year old could not have enjoyed the parade or if they did they would be afraid to tell you.

They don't throw candy for what would be obvious to most adults, it's the danger factor with children running out in front of vehicles.

"The Shriners cars, lady you need an attitude adjustment."

Who in their right mind would criticize the Shriners. Hope Santa wasn't tuned in to you while he was making his list and checking it twice, you aren't being very nice.

Excuse me Merry Christmas I have alot of SPIRIT! I didnt criticize the Shriners at all They were just more fun to watch back in the day. Im not on here to hurt no one I would just like to have saw more like back in the day. And I do agree with you on the candy thing. Your right but that was so special back then. So your not being very nice either. And as far as attitude adjustment. Well i have a great attitude toward Christmas not a POLITICAL PARADE. Thanks for your comment though. MERRY CHRISTMAS

I think it was great! Years ago, the parade had gone downhill so much it wasn't worth going out for, even in warm weather. But in recent years, more work has been put into the floats, and it shows. They look wonderful. Some of the cars and stuff need a little work though; the Red Cross truck comes to mind: they could have stuck a wreath in the back window or SOMETHING to make it look at least a little festive. And there were way too many political candidates just taking advantage of the opportunity to be seen. But at least they took the time to make an appearance (?).

As for candy, we filled up half of one of those plastic cups they were handing out with suckers and Tootsie Rolls. At least 3 different groups were throwing it out. And the sirens and horns were plenty loud where we were standing; made some babies cry! LOL!
