Ok, I eat at The Cookout yesterday, went through the drive thru, was a bit of a wait but not too bad. The smoke coming from the top of the building was appetizing, their sign/logo is very amateur though, hard to believe someone would put that much effort and money into a building and business but have such a cheap looking logo, anyway........

Ordered at the drive-thru, the girl had to repeat everything I said numerous times and each time wrong, that was a little annoying but I could hear from the background noise that it was quite noisy behind her.

When I got to the window, I was seriously shocked. the first thing I saw was the hand of the girl working the window as she reached for my money, her nails were disgusting, bitten and chewed, nail polish all chipped off of nubby nails that were dirty, gross! Then I looked directly passed her to the girl running the drive thru register, her arms had ratty cheap tattoos and her nails were filthy too. Both girls actually looked dirty all over, dirty hair, dirty shirts, nasty nails, yuk. Totally made me reconsider eating from there especially as I looked past those two and realized every employee I could see, which were quite a few, all looked dirty, unhealthy, just all around grungy and backwoods. Like from a work release program at the jail. I kid you not.

I ordered a double with cheese, fried onions, and mayo, order of onion rings and a chocolate malt for the grand total of $9.90. woah! that's expensive and right away I noticed that the bag was small and felt very light.

The malt, was very good, kind of hard to not make a decent chocolate malt though.

The onion rings, first bite was good but the by the 2nd ring the thick grease started to build up in my mouth and with each bite the taste of grease over powered any other taste.

The burger, was ok, it had a char-broiled taste to it. The bacon was hard and that always to order bacon on a burger and it be more like jerky than bacon. The fried onions were good, over all I'd give the burger a 4.

None of it was worth the price but if management of The Cookout read this by chance, please have a staff meeting and go over the general rules of proper hygiene and take a quick peak at your employees hands and nails, if they look like they've been digging in the dirt (or worse yet their ass) tell them to wash their hands and to never let you see them in such a state again, you guys are serving food for goodness sakes! And why would The Cookout hire those people, surely with unemployment as it is they could have found clean people willing to work?

i don't know how reliable atethere the food critic is when the first sentence says "ok, i eat at the cookout yesterday". it was rated a 4 but is that 4 outa 4 or 4 outa a 100. maybe someone that ate there and can make some sense with their post will comment

I am going to assume that "atethere" meant 4 out of 10 which is not very good. After this review of the appearance of the employees at the window, I have no plans to try the place any time soon. I will stick with my Crazy Good Burger dude. His mushroom and swiss is to die for. Happy weekend, ya'll !

The sign is Designed like that to go with their business. It's a burger joint not a 5 star dine in style place. Still better than a truck with a picture of itself on it, don't ya think?

I have ate there and did not see bad hygiene i will wait for the 1st surprise inspection before passing judgment
But the girl was taking money which means she was not touching food.
I would rather replete my order and have it repeated back 5 times than have someone go with what they thought they heard, It was also a madhouse there since it opened, they had people greeting you and holding the door for everyone and people greeting people on the drive through line.
The tattoos while I personally find trashy are a way of life anymore. It is hard to find a young person without one. The girl at the window was working and not drawing welfare. It may have been her 1st job and nervous.

The management and owners seem to understand that the 1st few weeks can make or break a business and are going the extra mile to make people happy

I am sure if you were unhappy with your food they would have made you another or given your money back.

The price is very competitive my only complaint is charging extra for tomatoes on burgers. To me a burger should automatically have a tomato but McDonald's had no burgers or even special order tomatoes till the McDLT in the late 80s

There are several choices for side items and one choice was a corndiog which is a normal menu item at most places
Onion rings are good but beer battered at Hardee's are better but more expensive. Burger tasted like it was cooked on an open flame but much better than burger king
I would give them an 8 out of 10
My biggest complaint is the charge for tomato

i ate there yesterday and it was not bad, but it wasn't what i was expecting, but then again it was only 4.69 plus tax, which was just over 5.00, i had a double hamburger and was a little disappointed when i got it, it was like two small sausage patties that was about a eighth inch thick, my fries was ok just not many of them and the three chicken nuggets i got was ok also, but only got three, i will go back at some time but i think i'll stick to pals for now

I ate there the day after they opened. It was a madhouse inside and at the drive thru but I was surprised how fast they were bringing out those orders and how well organized things were. It was all new to the employees but they were doing a great job and were friendly. I complimented the girl who took my order at what a good job they were doing. I got a BBQ plate and it was only 3.99. I got bbq, hush puppies fries and cole slaw. Where else can you get a full plate for that price. It was all good. My friend got a burger plate for about the same price. She said it was very good. It was well worth the money and a good place to eat. I'm wondering about the hotdogs? Are they good, anyone that ate a hot dog?
Atethere got all that food for $9? Wow, I know that malt was at least 3 which is average so for six dollars he got a double cheese with onions and an order of onion rings? That sounds like a cheap price to me.

9 Bucks is cheap for that much food. Judging from "atethere's" assessment, not too shabby. Atethere ate the food...win. Those fingernails will polish over and those tats aint gonna fall off on your burger.

All tats look cheap and ratty. A tat parlor is a breeding ground for disease.

any review given now I don't believe will represent what cookout really is. there is no way they have proper quality controll right now they are not made to handle the flood they are recieving now. looks like morristown has never seen a hamburger before. Think I'll wait till it slows down.

That's the old stereotypical view of tattoo parlors. Welcome the new age, wouldya!

Went to Cook Out today and had a cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate shake for $5.98. The burger was good but nothing to write home about. The fries were just ok. The shake was really good. I personally don't see what all the fuss is about. I haven't tried Crazy good burgers yet so I won't compare. In my opinion I would rather have Fazoli's back. But it is nice to see another business open in Morristown.

I have tats but put them where I could display them or cover them for business. no one wants to see some nasty neck, face,or distasteful lower arm tat. face or neck tats pretty much lock you in to your future job potential. I personally will hire no one if theirs is visable.
