Travis Singleton is AMAZING!! He does shows at the Downtown and did one at Walters State about a month ago. He will be at the DownTown again on March 13th. He is very talented and a great guy as well.

Silent Stone is also great and The Grand Parade. Murder in the Mirror is good if you are into heavy stuff.

<quoted text>i liked them, all but the one who wore the fishing hat....i think he played lead guitar. he was tall and dark and played an off white telecaster. i think his name was jason price. im pretty positive he overdosed on claritin and nyquil and died 3 or 4 years ago......sad....sad
I will be sure to give my condolences to Jason the next time I see him. I imagine he will be quite surprised.

Yeah, Jason Price played with those guys but not under that band name I think? Jason is alive and lives in Knoxville I think... and the guitar player you are talking about is Chris Taylor, he plays in a few different bands in Morristown... he still wears that hat. Not sure what happened to the rest of that band... but I do not believe that any of them died...

depends on the type of music you like for the most part. If you like metal, Angie that owns Backstage gifts host several concerts throughout the year in the parking lot of her business down on West AJ in the Western Willow shopping center.
and then there's THE DOWN TOWN on Main Street that has live bands, you have the VFW and AMVETS that have live music on weekends. Sadly enough, if you want something more family oriented though, there really isNOT a place to go. I really wish there was though, cause I gave up the party/bar scene many many years ago and would love to have places to go hear bands/singers... wish someone would get something like that going on around here!!!!
as a matter of fact i have been trying to come up with something for our kids and/or families to go to where they can dance and not have alcohol ect. maybe have a good dj or something? need some ideas.

and morristown and surrounding areas have enough tallent you could have live entertainment and change up the styles of music a little bit here and there too. just a thought...

MAN!!!!! YEAH!! I'm older than DIRT, but I can still see NOAH CRIDER and THE COLD SWEAT BAND gettin down at the Moose and Elks clubs!!! How Bout HEART CITY BAND that backed Janie Frickie (sic) and was on major tv shows. A local guy...Bill Warren was her guitar picker, Tony Wiggins on Bass. A cool dude from Rogersville, Benny Wilson was her back up vocalist and Melvin Stroud on drums and brother Allan on lead guitar. Well , there were MANY MORE good bands "back in my day", but I'll just close by saying "thanks" for letting me walk down memory lane for a spell.
And thanks for taking me with you down memory lane! Those were the days!

Ernie is living in Georgia or Alabama. Haven't seen or heard of Melvin Stroud in years.
Thanks. Maybe they will show up at the reunion, if any of us can still walk....

good luck!!! I know i've been racking my brain about putting something together too, my thing is I cant afford any of the places to have something, but know several people who would be willing to perform just to be able to get their name out. i also know that where alot of what i'm involved in is church related, i wont be going to vfw and none of most of the people i know will take their families there either. so, i'll keep trying to rack my brain and figure something out. Wish you all the best!!!

I found a nice big rubber band at office max.
It was one of the best bands I have saw recently.
It would stretch so far I could not break it.

Back in the hay day- that would be the 70's- it was the band that Joe Senter, B. J. Smith, the Nichols guy, and Randy Goin, played in. Now that was talent, they could sing, they could play and geez they were great. I know B.J. died a few years back, does anyone remember then and know where most are at now. There was also another band, more Joplin bluesy like with Becky Spearman, Phil Risacher and others.

yea....if you are into heavier stuff, murder in the mirror rocks.
Grand Parade (rains to ruin) is good too. They arent near as heavy.....more like punk meets pop meets country. Its different, u would just have to hear them.
Silent Stone isnt bad either. Just straight up rock. I hear that they are breaking up though.
