All these kids drool over guns nowadays. Their favorite rappers have them wave their pretend guns over their heads in unison.

The news media makes more of the guns than they actually are, plus they dont even know what they are talking about when they describe them! Accidents happen all the time, but the media, and the anti gun idiots jump on every chance they can to make people afraid of them.I wish the news people would take a class on weapons so they will actually have the facts!!!

"These kids" were brought up right, in a loving family. They go to church and play outside.

As was said earlier, if you don't know the family or don't know the situation, the don't comment on it. How would you feel if this was your family and strangers were saying these things about you.

These are real people and they have real feelings...and they have enough to deal with right now. Find something else to occupy your time.

I don't think I should even be on here, but some of the comments are sickening me!!! I"m from Morrison and this mother had adopted these two little boys that both have disabilities. I won't be specific because I don't feel it's my business, but she was super mom!! She loved Caleb and Shay from very young ages and loved God with all her heart. Very active in the church and very active in these little boys' lives. Always putting herself last. It is very unfortunate what has happened. I would ask that everyone put their opinions and comments aside and pray for this whole family. Not only did Duke loose his wife, but he is now loosing Caleb, the very son that he loved with all of his heart. Yes he needs to be held accountable for what he did, but he also needs people to love him and pray for him. He a child of God, just like you are and just like I am. There is no perfect family, but we can have perfect peace through Christ. Let's all pray that for this family.

I knew this family. Not personally but, I knew them. They were a Christan family and Shannon loved her kids. It happened in the morning. Her sons rode to school on their bikes and they were scared and terrified. I know the son who was taken into custody and he couldn't have done it. He was a good kid and was in a loving family. I remember when they stopped school to tell us this. I say this because I don't anyone thinking it was the son. He couldn't have done and its really sad that this happened.

Shannon Renfro was a loving christian woman, who only wanted children to share her love with. These
were good, christian people. There is no room for
people to just sit down and start saying awful things about a family they do not know. I pray that
God would give comfort to her husband Duke, and the children they have adopted and call their own. There is no way for me to remotely understand the heartache they are dealing with right now. I can only pray that God would give them peace that passes all understanding.

Dawn, I'm so sorry to tell you, but yes it was Caleb that did it. He was arrested this afternoon and is in the Noble County youth dentention center. He has a dentention hearing tomorrow morning. It's just awful. I know that you too will be praying for this family.

I heard about this on the radio earlier. From what they said the boy was in the garage when the gun went off, the bullet went thru several walls striking his mother. Rather this is true or not I don't know. Only time will tell.
this was the one in Owasso, that happened last summer.

Unfortunately yes - it was Caleb who shot shannon. He has confessed. He said he was mad at his mom. Two shots were fired, the first one missed and the second one was the shot that struck her. Rather than dialing 911 right away, Caleb and Shay then rode their bikes to school passing MY HOUSE, Lil' Country express gas station, the fire station, the post office, the bank, City Hall and every other possible place they could have called for help on their 2 mile bike ride. Caleb got to school and told one of his classmates about it (Not a teacher) and the classmate told the teachers who then called 911.
I knew this family and they are all excellent, wonderful, loving Christian people. I only wish Caleb didn't have access to that gun......

So where are the details of this story? Was this child wanting to kill his mother, or was this another child with a gun he should never have had in the home and it was an accident? My heart goes out to the child and the family, the pain and loss he/they must be feeling is more than I would ever want to bear. My prayers are with you. Blessings.

All the awful things that were said about my friend Dukes family are off base, uncalled for, and just plain mean. Concerned citizen has it right. We need to be their for this family that is broken right now. Duke my prayers and thoughts are with you and your sons. RKB

It sounds like an accident to me. I heard on the radio that the bullet went through a few walls before it hit the mother who was in the bathroom. How tragic, and for them to treat the poor kid like a criminal, they should be ashamed of themselves. This is ridiculous..If the story that I heard is true. My prayers and thoughts go out to this family. I can't imagine the shape that this 12 year old must be in..
I wonder if they are treating this matter so aggressively because of the stories we have been hearing around the country about kids/teenagers killing there parents purposely?? Those stories blow my mind..truely tragic..
Ok, so I wasn't the only one that heard it.

You're right about that. My brother collects guns, so my 14yr old is completely fascinated by them. He does know how to shoot them and clean them and is very cautious, but....crap happens and it scares me to think about it.

It is absolutely distressing that someone could go one this forum and post negative comments without knowing the family. I personally knowing, these parents were the most loving parents that an adopted child could ask for! They are VERY active in their church. And one is struggling to find peace without idiots jumping to conclusions and pointing blame when they don't know the facts! A Father has lost two family members in this tragedy, a wife of 16 years and an a son raised from toddlerhood. Shannon you will be missed! Many prayers are with this family.
