My husband and I along with several strangers witnessed 5 bright red lights moving incredibly slow over Livingston, NJ on (Jan 29, 2009)Thursday evening around 8:40 pm.

I have read all the nonsense blogs written by complete fools and have a difficult time believing that we all witnessed balloons with flares. Is there anyone with a reasonable explanation of the sighting?

I've been hearing talks of red objects colliding in the skies that night somewhere over North Jersey with debris crashing. Supposedly the military quickly rushed to the scene and took away wreckage........along with two small bodies. Sound familiar??

Just saw 9 of these lights over Morristown Airport around 8:40 P.M. They travelled slowly together and one by one disappeared. A few of them separated from the group and appeared to be drifting down and then extinguished on the horizon. Viewed them with several others outside of Signature Aviation. Took a video with my point and shoot Canon.

I saw the lights at about 9:00 pm. over Morristown. After they disappeared it looked like there were planes flying to the location where the lights were. They looked like military planes not commercial airline.

I saw 9 red lights hovering over city just befor 9pm feb 17 2009 they were clustered then moved into a diagonal formation. Some seemed to drift straight down into clouds and out of site then others just disappeared.

okay, we figured it out...

http://www.youtube.com/watch...

(fastforward to 1:30 and 3:00 approx)

they were skydivers.....they put flares on themselves, and arrange into diagonal formations in the sky, which is why they fizzle, because the flares burn out... and morristown airport is where they dive from.

oy did we have heartattacks haha :P

We saw the same lights over Pine Plaza in Whippany. We follow them down to the post office.

Saw these red lights in morris plains around 8:40 as well. I saw them make a big dipper formation and slowly move away then disappear. They were definitely not airplanes.

Strange that people saw these lights and then there was an earthquake. We saw the lights last night, 8-9 of them, and there was a minor quake reported on the LDEO website last night a few miles from Morristown.

So far, I am going with the skidiver theory, looks feasible, could last 20 minutes if they deploy shoots high up and coast down. Anyone else have a theory, answer?

It lasted around 30 minutes, thats a long time for skydivers. & the red lights were much brighter and steadier than the skydivers in the video, not to convinced on this one.

I too saw these lights on Tuesday night while driving home from Parsippany on Rt 80. I don't know what they are but I have a hard time believing that they are helium balloons with flares on them. I also don't think that they are skydiver either because anyone who saw them could see that the lights didn't really move out of their formation.

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Capricorn

If you need to get someone organized, this is the day to do it. You'll sort things out without sounding bossy or patronizing, and you'll also get co-operation instead of resistance. It's a good day for having a serious chat with a child, perhaps because you need to explain something and want to make sure you do it properly, in a way that doesn't create confusion or fear.
