More flooding this morning, and all you idiots do is complain on topix. It is going to make obtaining insurance impossible. Now we have houses upside down mortgage wise and under water too.

I am begging Carol to step down, it is obvious she is too busy to help us.

too bad the village never pumped out any of the drains to help with flooding. Hey I know, let's put a huge sea barrier around the waterfront that DHS can instal at a cost of 3million. Gary can run the construction. Or are we blaming the flooding on the TOB? Or is it Paul's fault?

The drains that are not supposed to be connected to the bay? I guess all the other towns that are experiencing flooding also didn't clean their storm drains. Have you not seen the drains on Riviera spilling out flood water after each high tide?

well, according to the poster that I was responding to, HE made the claim it was because of Carol. That some how it was because of her that we have flooding. So I responded with as clueless a statement as theirs. Of course it's the high water in the bay that is causing the flooding. Not Carol or any of the others. But it would drain FASTER after each high tide IF the drains were clear. Which they aren't. Because the village NEVER pumps them. Which the TOB did about 3 times a year. But the village hasn't pumped them once IN 3 years!
But I guess that's Bruce's fault.

Nothing in the village ever gets done unless its posted on topix, sooooo....
When is code enforcement going to go and pick up all the caution yellow tape that they are putting up over the roadways when the road has water on them? I understand that they need to justify their reason for being in the village. You may even think that you are doing the residents a favor by insisting that we are too stupid to understand that if we can't see the road we shouldn't drive through it. I get it. But AFTER the water goes down, and people drive through the tape, the code enforcement "officers" are just leaving it lying around every where! If you drive down Riveara it looks like a huge crime scene. Its all over the stop signs, on light polls and even on residents fences! So please, CLEAN UP YOUR MESS!
Wasn't that WHY we became a village? To clean up this mess? Well, the CE are the one MAKING the mess! It looks bad to have the village be the ones making a huge mess and not cleaning it up.

Thats Funny"Duhhhhhh"Nothi ng in the village ever gets done unless its posted on topix, sooooo

That is the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. The village doesn't do anything unless it's posted on topix first?

If that were true, Carol would have paid her taxes long ago.

Actually, your a joker if you think topix runs the government.

You do not appreciate the work others are doing. Taping off a dangerous area is necessary to warn all the 90 year olds, and those who make believe they are, from driving into a flooded road. Wow, they didn't act instantly enough for you. This topic s about the Crier. I think his next crusade will be to order the DEC to fine the village for salting the roads.

i bet they finally go and pick it up though! It's been there for a few weeks now, but now that it was on topix, I give it a week until its gone. I don't care how it gets picked up, I just want the code enforcers to make LESS MESS and clean up the ones that they have made.

go look at it. It's not needed. But fine, they are heros! Now how about the heros go clean up their mess. I bet Frank F wants them to clean up their mess because the caution tape is all over his fence and property. It looks discussing with all the caution tape on every block. West side of Pattersquash creek on Rivera and a bunch of other roads. Go see for yourself before you speak. Because if this is going to happen at every high tide with them always leaving it everywhere, then the visions team new slogan will be "WE MADE THIS MESS"

guess what? blind people do not drive. anyone else can make a DECISION whether or not to drive in water. we are not children. we've lived without caution tape (and road barriers) for a long time. when the water is high, we don't drive on it. if we are stupid enough to drive on it, then shame on us. the only reason to put this tape is so that the employees of the village have something to do.

How about this. Go out and clean the tape up instead of complaining about it. Do your good deed for the day and help the village out.

This whole site is pathetic. It's probably about ten people in total and I'll bet eight of the ten whiners don't even attend village meetings.

Then you get someone who claims the village will only address a problem when he/she writes about it on topix.

If you don't like something or want to see something changed then get involved by attending meetings and asking questions.

The village is here to stay. This community is better for it, and I am going to help it succeed in any way I can.

Good bye topix, good bye whiners and may you find happiness and peace.

Then why dont YOU go out and clean up the tape. After all wasnt it the MBV vision wet dream team founded on the principle of an all volunteer force. But what appears to have happened PAID employees put the crime scene tape up, but when it was no longer necessary, it was just left as trash and the same PAID employees never bothered to retrieve it.

good for you. Go get the tape then if you like how well the village is doing. All up and down Rivera on west side of creek. If the code enforcers put out tape I should walk behind them cleaning up after them? FU
They wanted to play government , they make the rules, they get paid, they can clean up their own sh!t. Or you can. Because you will make it succeed!

The village is here to stay? Really sez who? Even VZ made it clear before we became a village that it was easy to dissolve. Turns out after they changed the laws for dissolution in 2010 it is even easier. I would not be so sure about it's staying power. I give it two more years but wouldn't be surprised to see it go even sooner.

How many people can say their neighborhoods have improved since the village was established? How many?

We're hearing about legislation for boats in front yards and side yards but we still have commercial vehicles in neighborhoods nightly, cars parked on lawns instead of driveways or even the street.

Section 8 dumping has never been higher with slum lords picking up woefully devalued homes for sub-$150K. They're devalued because more and more neighborhoods are riddled with a couldn't-care-less attitude from an all too large portion of Section 8 tenants. We're beyond the tipping point and the 'village' is ill-equipped to deal with any of it.

There has to be a real effort on basic 'curb appeal' violations from one end of this village to the other and you can't be looking at boats when you still don't have motor vehicles under control.

Summer is coming and there has to be real noise pollution enforcement from vehicles with little or no mufflers zipping all around this village or those that think having a party with a PA system that can be heard two blocks away is acceptable.

What are carters doing operating in the village before 8am? It's as early as 6:30am in some areas, is this a quality of life improvement over Brookhaven Town?

The village is ill-equipped to deal with any and all of this.

Those in and out of power think tourism is the answer? Waterfront development? Get real, what out of towner would ever drive down our mainstreet and think 'vacation' or that there must be this great place if we can just drive through 'this dunghole' to get out the other side. Heck what out of towner would ever drive down Neighborhood Road and not think slum?

Leaders think the beach and a developed waterfront will draw tourism to Mastic Beach? Is that a joke? The island has more than 240 miles of beach and waterfront. What makes or could make Mastic Beach desirable enough to think tourists would choose to come here instead? When you bulldoze those slum-shacks on neighborhood road and put in a real downtown maybe. Yet we all know that could never happen, so you can forget about all the BS regarding waterfront development and tourism.

Stick to basics, work for the RESIDENT. Curb appeal based enforcement first and foremost for every neighborhood in the village. Get on it! Get the commercial vehicles out, control the noise, and bulldoze the downtown area.

Do it now or die folks because we're rapidly headed for North Bellport or Gordon Heights infamy. Just look at how property values RISE within a 1/4 mile of the village. That's your huckleberry right there... Everything else is BS...

Oh yeah, real estate is just rocketing to the moon everywhere but Mastic Beach. We (and I mean nearly the whole country) are in the midst of a serious correction in real estate prices , banks are sitting on a record number of foreclosures, the foreclosure process in NY is the longest in the country ( something north of 1000 days), a record number of people are losing their full- time jobs ( yet plenty of part-time no benny jobs). Every municipality at every level of gov't has a budget that is ready to blow-up. The fed reserve is pumping 85 billion dollars a month into the MBS market to save the banks from going kaput. We have a larger governmental entity that is hell bent on shoving every damn down and out family to MB so that they don't end up in thier neighborhoods(and richly rewards their slumlord buddies) We have a state DEC that will not allow you to protect your home because you may damage some invasive plants. We have just experienced one of the worst hurricanes and winter storm seasons on record and handled it all very very well. Yeah, I know, its all the Villages fault. I thank god every day that we have local gov't run by local people trying to solve the very difficult problems we face, were we not, I shudder at the thought of the position we would be in.
