Code Inforcement

Clearly, repair to a roof requires a building permit and the contractor wound need to Be registered. But, I would expect a temp permit should be issued immediately if there is a licensed contractor doing the job. Waiting even one day is unacceptable.

But, I researched landscaping, which would include mowing and raking leaves is clearly exempt from the definition of a home improvement as per code section 197-1.

last night at the village meeting i expressed my disappointment at the requirement that contractors/landscapers/cesspo ol companies must be registered with the village. i asked what "protection" they offer if a registered person rips me off. they said "then I will know how to contact them and that they have insurance." thats crap. I can find out if they have insurance on my own and also how to contact them. if they are licensed in suffolk county or the state, then they are required to give me the license information and i can check for myself if they are fully insured. I also found out that in a village with 12000 homes, there are exactly 2 registered cesspool companies. it is unacceptable to me to limit my choice this way. i was also told that it only takes 24 hours for a company to get registered (i was told by two different contractors that it took more than a week). Now if my cesspool has an emergency on a Friday evening after 4pm, I cannot find out who the 2 registered cesspool companies are because the village hall is closed on weekends. also, there is no list on the website, which requires residents to go to village hall by 4pm monday through friday. So, I would have to live with my cesspool emergency until Monday. This is totally ridiculous. I bet I would get a ticket for the cesspool overflowing. This is an absurd rule and has to go.

I believe there should be a provision made in the code for after hours emergencies. In the event of an emergency, such as a cesspool collapse, fire, flood, storm or wind damage...And the village office is not open, that an emergency waiver be available by contacting any village officer (mayor or trustee) who should inspect the premises and issue an emergency waiver for any contractor to initiate remediation. However, any further construction or repair after the emergency is alleviated would necessitate the use of a village registered contractor.

i'll just call another company and get my cesspool pumped. if i have an emergency, do you think i would first call after hours code enforcement, then call the mayor, and then get somebody to give me a piece of paper that says i can fix my own property? absurd. I will use common sense and call a professional of my own choosing (since i am paying with my own money) and have the problem taken care of. if you want, you can run around like a chicken with their head cut off and get the village (mommy and daddy's) permission.

Didn't Bruce support the registration requirement? I don't recall your friend Maura speaking out against it, either.

would that be the registration requirement that was made a law 4 years ago? I don't think Maura or Bruce were trustees then. And Brady, that's the stupidest thing anyone would do to get their cesspool pumped in an emergency.

Pumping is not an emergency, a collapse is!

What's wrong with you people? All I suggested was that the Trustee on duty would come over and see the problem and grant an instant waiver if the event is an emergency and it happens when the village office is closed.

Maybe you should attend the village meetings. Bruce defended it on Tuesday and Maura didn't say a word when michelle complained about it.

No more exscuses. They've been on the job for two months.

to quote the entire pro-village population.....(After 3 years mind you)........." Give them time!!!!"
You're all such idiots.
Yes, I can't understand why the two of them haven't fixed MB yet in those two months while working with the 3 remaining idiots who caused this mess in the first place. Shocking!
What will you all do when the rest are voted out next year? Probably curl up in the fetus position and cry for weeks.

i don't really care if Bruce is for or against the registration requirement. I am against it. I have my own mind. Thank you. There are many many people who think this requirement is absurd. There are exactly 2 cesspool companies on their list. there are 12 thousand homes. divide that by 2. that's 6000. if most people in mastic beach get pumped out at least once every 18 months to 2 years, then it would be almost physically impossible for these 2 companies to cover it all. so, now i not only have to use an approved vendor, but i have to wait until they have time to do it.

AND YES, AN OVERFLOWING CESSPOOL IS AN EMERGENCY. it is hazardous to everyone. if you think an overflowing cesspool can just wait 3 or 4 days, then you are not only uninformed, but disgusting as well.

There are about 12,000 people but only about 5,400 homes. I suggested an emergency waiver, which you seem to also think is a "stupid" idea (your description). I was only trying to help. I have withdrawn the suggestion.

It isnt gloating, it is a warning that the voters have spoken and the magic bus is coming.

You and Vodka Vick kept saying he wasnt an employee of the village and he couldnt get fired. Well the magic bus ran over him shortly after the village deemed his services were no longer needed.
