The Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau does an outstanding job day in and day out. I feel safe and re-assured when I take my family out on our boat in congested Moriches Bay. Kudo's to these two officers.

I would never head off to work and leave my dog unattended in the backyard for all those hours.

What is brindle colored? And, by the way, "snuck" is not the word. "Sneaked" is actually the right word for this story.

Oh well.

Glad to see Misty is back home. Five days is a long time to be lost and scrounging around for food. The owner must have been heartbroken to not know what happened to his dog. Sounds like Misty will be fine after a good meal and bath.
BTW it is about a mile of a swim to get to that island from the bay. If Misty did swim that distance (she smelled like seaweed) that's one strong doggypaddle...LOL

Great job on behalf of the Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau, they could have ignored this situation but chose to save a life..

Happy for this pet owner but happier for the doggie..

She'll try again. Sounds like one of the smarter Mastic residents who will eventually succeed.

Muse said he'd been searching for his beloved dog since last Sunday, when he returned from dinner and discovered her missing from his backyard, which is surrounded by a 6-foot fence.

Awe, that is such a happy story! Thank God she found her home. If I were her owner though I would most definitely not let her run around in the backyard unsupervised. People are sick now a days.

He went to dinner, not work! It could have been an hour- I doubt he would have left his dog out thinking it was a long period of time--
