These past years the ticks are bad but this year takes the cake.
Has anyone noticed how bad it is? Or is it just me and where I live here in Mastic Beach.

We are loaded with them. I've never seen anything like it. I live near the water and was flooded badly during Sandy. My theory is that Sandy washed everything upland from the wetlands. We have plants growing in the yard this year that I've only seen down in the marsh. I think the storm brought this stuff inland. Just a theory.

I'm along the O'Dell's creek, with Wm.Floyd Estate in back. Basically in the wetlands. Lots of wildlife vectors for ticks.

The person who posted above you is near the water also and has a problem. I saw Home Depot has a product called Ecosmart that got very good reviews in controlling ticks and many other insects. A bag that covers 5000 sq ft costs about $12.00. I think I'm going to give it a try since I have a lot of ants and gnats. The CDC recommends placing a 3' wide wood chip barrier along areas that ajoin tree lines to prevent ticks from entering the yard. Check out both the Depot and CDC web sites.

Evan Politico, everyone on here knows it's you with your stupidity so why don't you give it up? You're the laughing stock of Topix.

I live by the high school and never had much of a tick problem. However, this year every time someone is in the yard they get a tick on them. Mostly from the mulch! I spray Yard Guard, grey bottle, all insects are gone. Even mosquitoes stay away for about 10 to 12 days.

Do you have any clue what the chemicals are that you are spraying on yourselves? Do you know what any side effects are? Besides what the chemical companies are telling you?
