I'm fairly new to this area and new homes are not the answer!!!!
They should have fixed the links lowered the prices and added a restaurant with possibly a small park.
To bad the people who bought homes in the states have this to look forward to!!!!

It has been over 3 years and nothing is being done. Why dosen't the town take it over and ressurect te golf course. This could be a boom for the town and anyne who can manage it. It failed because it was not priced right.

I don't know what you mean "nothing is being done". Haven't you noticed the model homes that have been built there? Also the Town has been given almost 100 acres and they will be deciding what they are going to do with that land soon. They may very well turn it into some recreational things. I hope they put a mini-golf course and maybe an ice skating rink. Things that are family friendly activities.

A big part of the property has been donated to the county for parks and recreation. It was in newsday last week.

The land was donated to the Town of Brookhaven and not the County of Suffolk, that is what Newsday said.

I stand corrected. Either way. something is getting done and if not it is private property. They can leave it undeveloped.

Is this the same Links that ad a planned sewer project WAY before the village?

The sewage treatment plant that was proposed at the Links by the Holiday Org. was when they were proposing to build 450 senior citizens condo's. They would have been required by the board of health to build the plant however since they are no long doing that, they no longer need to build a sewage treatment plant,.

I would hate to the last chunk of open space be developed. Ideally, I would love to see it as a future Suffolk County Park...
What did they finally do? I'm looking into buying a house a couple of blocks from there and would like to have the whole picture and know as much as I can find out before making an offer.

They are building 75 single family homes that will sell for around $400,000 and 150 senior townhouses that will cost less. Also 98 acres has been donated to the Town of Brookhaven and a community center will eventually be located on that property as well as the potential for a beautiful town park, similar to Eisenhower Park.

Good morning,
If your best friend was looking to buy a house in this neighborhood, what would you tell him/her?
What do you love about your neighborhood?
What don't you like?
If you had the chance to sell your house for what you think it's worth and buy somewhere else in Shirley, what area would you move to? What subdivision in Shirley?

Housing prices in Shirley Tangiers have held their prices a bit higher - south of Sunrise Highway, a different story. Do not under any circumstances buy any new homes being built where the Links golf course was formerly located - over $400,000.00 plus over $10,000.00 in taxes - you would be wiser if you had that kind of mortgage in mind to invest in either Commack or Smithtown, where you ROI AND taxes won't be wasted. This area does not dictate this amount of taxes, and those living in the Woodland Estates have found this out the hard way. They can not sell their homes without taking a huge loss - they were enticed by the "up and coming" nonsense that everyone's been saying about this area since the early 1970's - it hasn't happened, and I would advise to look elsewhere.

yeah. The same plan your idiot friend zany z helped to destroy. A least you all got your village and jobs to boot. Oh right, he doesn't WORK for the village, he just gets thousands of dollars a year to NOT work for them.

Only moron is you. I don't even live there. Next, you have far less illegal housing than before. The codes were changed so DSS could not continue dumping there. The storm reeked havoc, but it will take time to come back.

You think in just over 2 years everything will be picture perfect? Get a reality check moron - decades of dilapidation to clean up - you don't like it, move, or help, or just STFU!

That simple.

Learn how to type and use spell check also.

That initial plan would have completely destroyed what can be salvaged in Shirley you idiot, and I played a major role in crushing that idea, not Vic.

You think they're gonna sell? Think again;

Cheapest house -$379,000.00 /%10,000.00 taxes PLUS a maintenance charge monthly for street clean up and privileges.

Condos - Almost $300,000.00 /$7,000.00 in taxes PLUS monthly maintenance fees for clubhouse and street cleaning.

See how long it's taken to build? They will never sell that area out. A waste of money.

youre such a dumba$$. I know you don't live here but that did nothing to stop you from speaking out about how much MB needed to be a village. "For your family" as you said. Piss off "tony", you moron. You were a joke three years ago when you were raving about MB becoming a village and you were a joke after we became a village when you said it will "be difficult to keep taxes low because we don't have a commercial district". F off and shut up already, no one want nor cares about you "opinions".
And look at how well the links turned out due to a holes like you. They were always going to develope that area into housing. Now, thanks to morons like you, we still have housing going in with NO sewar hook up to Neighborhood rd. F-era like you ruin everything.

Seems like you have nothing better in life - sad for you.

No one would ever pay for any sewer hook up - it would cost thousand's for any home to link into any sewer system, but naturally, you fail to state this also. The sewer system would cover just the 450 condo monstrosity they were attempting to build also - but of course, you fail to mention this as well.

If you know me so well, why not e-mail me or call? Being anonymous here is convenient for you obviously.

piss off tony. The original plan that you helped to ruin would have hook up neighborhood rd with the sewer system at the links. But small minded loses like you destroyed this plan. Now we get a housing development with nothing for MB. How about this. Keep you stupid opinions to yourself and leave MB alone to the people that live here. Dick. Here's my email... Www.fumoron.com

Never did Holiday state the were going to run a 2 mile line to Neighborhood Rd., rip out the sidewalks, put public sewer lines in, never - so stop your BS already! If that were to happen, every business owner in MB would have advocated this.

Go FU moron - you know very little - and sound like an uneducated child.
