Thanks for the info, Brady. You seem like a stand up kind of person. It's too bad there's so much negativity on this site.
It's either people who are against the village or about the marina properties. Really, what difference does it make who takes care of the properties?
If the deed says the village should be given the properties, then just do it.
Someone else mentioned how the village could get grants and make the marinas into something the whole village can benefit from.
Let's do it. I don't have any opinion about the MBPOA, but since the village was formed I've seen our community improve. So let the village fix up the marinas and beaches and do it for all the residents.
Let's give it a try!
Time to go. Have a good night, Brady.
Thanks Milly, until the issue is settled in court, There will be no stopping all the negativity.

I thought the FEMA money was to reimburse expenses related to Sandy Storm clean-up. The village is allowed to just spend this money on something else?

If the village spent fema money on these things, that would be illegal. they are only allowed to use it for storm damage. I don't remember us having a sweeper or other highway trucks that were damaged by Sandy.

Lots of endless negativity! Funny that most of the negative comments come from people in the TOB! Worry about your own town and leave ours alone! There have been countless improvements since we became a Village! Letís start with the fact that we were plowed long before most of the other towns were. The fact that Code Enforcement is working to keep on top of all the vacant lots! If property owners do not keep it clean, the village does! That's paid for by the fines that are charged when the town has to clean it up! How about the fact that the streets are cleaner! How about the dozen or so businesses that have opened up on Neighborhood Road and Mastic Road! Yes we have a long way to go, but Rome was not built in a day! Every town has its issues! At least our town officials donít claim to have toothaches to get out of facing the music for their failures or go on vacation right before a storm. Who are you kidding? They hid so they didnít have to face the fact that they could not (obviously) clean up the mess because they sold all your clean up vehicles! What a joke!!!

ha ha ha. you really think this place looks better? who are you kidding? a dozen new businesses? try 3. our village officials claim ignorance about everything. our storm drains are a mess ( and not up to code). there is grass growing a foot high in many lots. people have to go complain over and over to get the grass cut on those lots. the streets are shrinking and they are certainly not cleaner. the only thing i can say for them is that they have a better garbage company; but that garbage company now has a giant dumpster on the corner of lincoln and forest. it has been there for 2 months. they dump the garbage from the trucks in there. it is nasty. a large dumpster does not belong on a residential street (and it is parked partly in the wetlands). Yes, we were plowed quickly. But that does not make up for the ignorance of our paid officials. it does not make up for the fact that they are having closed door secret meetings to discuss everything. let's face it, if they didn't have secret meetings, it wouldn't have been a shock to hear they were bonding out 1 million dollars. now they have to spend millions on storm drain replacement to be up to state code. there is nothing in the budget for either of these things.

Delusional. I like how the phragmities and bamboo are growing through the pavement because the "highway" department mows twice a year. Or how much flooding we get because they pumped out one storm drain with a glorified shop-vac. Cant wait to have the "highway" department trying to figure out how to instal new blacktop.
We get it. No matter what the village screws up or how illegal their activities, you will defend them. Just like no matter how many homes they demolish, people will still think this village is a joke. I get to be ruled by a bunch of good old boys and redneck all so we can say that we got rid of 8 houses. So what? Those 8 houses did nothing for my "quality of life". Zany Z running around thinking hes top dog IS a quality of life issue and the village will do nothing to stop it. Cant wait for the yearly election fights.

OMG have you tried the fish and chips place?? Disgusting!!!!! If they last more than 1/2 a year I will be shocked. I decided to try it out and was ready to throw up after the first bite. Its frozen, PRE-breaded fish that they deep fry to death. When I bit into it, there was an air pocket where the frozen fish should have been. Never will I go back. It's not the residents that allow the shops to close, is the shop owners serving disgusting food that makes them close.

And I agree with everything you said. The villages claim to fame in three years have been one storm plowed and 8 houses torn down. For that I have to deal with all the nepotism and crooked leaders? Hope the DA finishes their investigation soon.

There are more then three new businesses! Lets see: Bow Wow Blvd, Beach Burger, nail Salon, Chinese Restaurant, Fish and chips, Greek Deli, Then and Now and the Meat Market and Tee's Kitchen will open soon! Those are just the ones on Neighborhood Road! Get your facts straight! The storm drain replacement? Really? If it has to be replaced how is that their fault? If the meetings are secret how do you know about them? Clean up over here has been good, I reported the two lots across from me. A day later there was a notice posted. When it wasn't cleaned up, the Village came and did it! No it didn't happen overnight, it can't! The Village has to wait a certain amount of time before they can touch it! As far as the dumpster, did you report it???

Bow woo, beach burger, nail salon AND the Chinese restaurant were all there BEFORE the village. Meat market isnt opened, nor is Tee's Kitchen and Then and Now was already open and switched locations. NONE of them have anything to do with us becoming a village. Oh wait, thats not true. Tee's Kitchen could have been open by now if it wasnt for the village not allowing them to open. And the fish and chips place will likely close due to awful food, not the village. Oh, and MB is messier than it has ever been in the past.
But at least Garys family made over 700,000 dollars in those three years, so thats something you should be proud of.

Obviously there are problems
THe kind of problems that require leadership to overcome. Ethical, compassionate leadership.
Not what you get from overweight loudmouths that are seeking only to like their own pockets. No sir. We need a man who's passion is the protection of the average tax paying resident of Mastic Beach.

chinese restaurant has been there for years. they had a fire and the village kept them from opening for over a year. nail salon moved locations on neighborhood road. beach burger opened, yes. greek deli used to be aspava grill and they took over 2 stores instead of one; with the same owner. now and then was there in a different location also. the village knew that the storm drains had to be replaced two years ago. it is the village's responsibility to take care of roads and storm drains and lights, and plowing, and everything else. they wanted the job, now do it right.

HF has not made a mortgage payment in years, but you call him a taxpayer.. Really! His bank has made the payments along with fire insurance to protect their asset. The bank is going to court this month for a foreclosure hearing. HF has a nurse's note saying he can't make it to appointments. Let's see how this works out.

Yes Honest Frank is an icon. He is representative of what is happening to many people across the United States during this slow developing economic depression.

Yet he stands resolutely for honesty and fair dealing. He has the guts to expose wrong doers. Although he has many critics, mostly from the business as usual crowd, he continues to make trouble for the quislings who would sell us down the river.

LIke you, you egg sucker.
