The Regal Entertainment Group is doing fine. The ticker symbol is RGC. I do not know if they are shutting down the Marlboro theater, but there is no bankruptcy as suggested by a prior post.
It is suprising that the sale would fall through after the planning was completed. There is more to this story which has not been told.

Where did you find the info that Costso backed out? The info from my previous post was from The Transcript Newspaper and from the Town Hall meeting.

Costco deal dead in Marlboro

MARLBORO - Warehouse store shoppers will have to continue going to Old Bridge and Freehold after plans to construct a Costco in the township fell through last week.

A Costco official confirmed that the deal had been terminated by the land owner.

The land owner, Seasons Realty, of Hightstown, could not be reached for comment.

Costco, which requires a membership to shop at, had received unanimous approval from the Planning Board on May 2 for its plan to demolish the Regal Cinemas and build a 149,067-square-foot warehouse store in a shopping plaza at the corner of Route 9 north and Texas Road.

The warehouse store would have had a pharmacy, optical and tire departments, and liquor available to its customers in addition to other merchandise. A Costco gas station, which would have been open to the general public, was included in the plan.

Mayor Robert Kleinberg acknow-ledged the deal had fallen through, but said the sale of a plenary liquor license will continue as planned in July.

The plans for the site remain approved and if another developer purchases the land and wants to built the exact same use, he would not have to appear before the board, said Dennis Collins, attorney for the Planning Board.

Hurrah for COSTCO. We do need such a warehouse-type store that will offer us convenient shppping for major househole items. AND, don't forget the importance to all Marlboro residents for this major source of revenue.

You know these residents keep complaining I didn't hear any one complaining when or while they want to build these houses but not make it affordable to move in this township. as many people that come to this sorry ass town and want to make it their home what about the people that have been here and can't make it. we love to send it to other towns but we need to stop and think that there is a lot of building going on and that growth is the name of the game and the game and think of it that if there are more businesses maybe our children can have employment and learn that they can become a part of the society they want to build. This township has need to underdstand that they are not exempt from it all no matter how snooty they think they can be. Question " WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SHOPS AT MARLBORO AND COSTOS'.

There is already a Cosco In Hazlet on Route 35N, and a BJ's in Old Bridge on Route 9N. If anything, I would much rather have a Wegman's going there, or a Whole Foods.

I know a lot about the Costco project so please feel free to ask any questions you like.
1. The commuter parking will be increased from 350 spaces to 400 spaces.
2. The Costco will be closer to Rt 9 than the Regal.
3. Regal did sell to a developer and will be torn down regardless. Either it's going to be a Costco or another type of shopping center.
4. All trash generated by Costco will be in a self contained interior trash compactor.
when is costco opening

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Scorpio

Let the past stay in the past for now. Even though you may have fond memories of intense experiences, the Virgo Moon sees to it that you have virtually no desire to go there again just yet. This is your opportunity to show others what you can do in a more civilised environment. Don't try to shout down someone who is rude enough to interrupt. As unlikely as it may seem, the softest voice has the biggest chance of being heard today.
