Read an awesome article today from sports insider, that says that Marshall applied to the big east, hoping to get in with Tulsa, and ECU, and basically got laughed at when they applied.

Right now, if the Big East had to select between Marshall or WVU to join their conference, the B.East would choose Marshall in a heartbeat, simply at least because they are ghetto, not "hillbilly" trash like at WVU.
