Morgantown Leadership... How We Got Here Part 2 of 2:
The first was a rant he published on Facebook. Here's a quote, paraphrasing just won't do it justice:
"A slate of angry tea party like candidates funded and/or supported by out of city developers and a group of unhappy city workers who want to control Council, are seeking to undo the great success of Morgantown over the past 10-15 years. We have been incredibly successful by avoiding this type of special interest group politics and political shenanigans. Help keep proven leadership in place and vote for Bill Byrne, John Gaddis, Nelson France and Don Spencer....please tell your friends to say NO to the negativity and stay positive with proven and sensible leadership. Thanks to all... Bill Byrne"
When a candidate in the same ward ran an ad referencing official city documents, Byrne cried "foul"... But not before he alerted the media so he would appear victimized by the competition. Of course, there was nothing improper done and it was just a lame diversion...much the same as faking an injury in grade school so that nobody will see that you throw a ball like a girl,(no offense intended to girls!).
More recently, Byrne has baselessly accused other councillors of "harassment" against the city manager when all evidence points directly to Byrne as the only person implying negative things about him!
Now, over the past months, at least we have a few members of council that are trying to get a handle on the leadership deficit, and they are asked on the radio why there isn't the "harmony" on council that used to be there? Granted, there is a certain "order" to a group of people all marching together. It's only with perspective that you notice that in that unity, they are marching in the wrong direction.
Kudos to the new Mayor and council for trying to get it right! You have located several of the basic problems in the system you inherited.
Have the conviction to fix them.
You got rid of the non-existent fracking ban.
You took care of half of the Sunnyside money pit, now finish.
And, if you can trust the "out of executive session pillow talk" of Byrne, you are addressing the leadership issues.
Remember, voters saw what Byrne and his cronies were doing and made a choice. Don't "phase in" change, make change! A lot of damage has been done by the arrogance of the past administration, please don't just trade arrogance for political correctness. Just do what we elected you to do.

I'm in agreement. Sadly, I was a supporter of the newest elected members of council but feel as though they have let us (residents/business owners) down. I thought they were actually trying to make a difference but after nearly 2 years and no change, I can no longer support them. Rumors have circulated for months that the city manager and police chief would soon be leaving. It won't be soon enough in my opinion. A private sector CEO would have sent them packing long ago. Just look at all the posts on Topix concerning Morgantown and it's decline.
