The local newspaper reported today on the city managers search for a new job. At least one councilman seems to have told the truth in that people never warmed up to him. I suspect he and those he hired will soon be gone.

Good time to bring all this to a head. Right before city election. I am hoping that some new names appear on the ballot, let the changes begin!

Although it should be pretty clear, some people will actually be shocked when they are asked to clean out their desks. The city manager has said that he and some of the other department heads are being recruited. Guess we'll soon see if that's the truth.

You people sure do like to keep the rumor mill going. The City Manager may be looking, but I haven't heard or read where any of the others are looking or being recruited. Wishful thinking I guess.

You can't be an "insider" or you have been living in a cave. Let's see who's left by July.

You don't have to be an "insider" to know these people were not the saviors for Morgantown. Also, agree that you would actually have to be living in a cave to not see the deterioration of our city in such a short time.

Really?? I want to know where everyone is getting all this information. Do you just make it up as you go along. I realize that some people are not happy with certain department heads. But are they really doing a terrible job? I think everyone should probably take a look at city council and how they appropriate YOUR money. The City is not being taken care of like it should be and that is not the fault of the department heads.

Clean sweep as in the upcoming council election. I have been told all new candidates are going to be running. No one that I talk to has said anything about replacing department heads

My take, for what it's worth. I think this is more than a few unhappy city council members, citizens or disgruntled employees. Actually, a majority of council is/has been trying to respond to months of citizen and employee complaints, the biggest being the overall daily operation and management syle of the city our curent city manager. Our curren manager and his selected team just haven't lived up to the expectations of many city residents. It's not the end of the world, it's just a matter of not really being what Morgantown needs. I suspect that most would agree that Dan Boroff and his leadership team did an excellent job and set the bar pretty high. Regardless of personal feelings, you can't deny the city was very prosperous during his tenure. Council hired a replacement who has been given ample opportunity but hasn't been too successful. I expect the manager to move on in the very near future and he will be followed by most if not all of his appointed leadership.

Agree 110%! I have heard this exact thing many times. So many people thought that this whole issue was just "sour grapes" among a few members of council. Your comments are much like those made by city council, very kind and diplomatic.

I can assure you that things at the City of Morgantown are pretty bad and morale is non existent. Several officers at the MPD are planning on leaving if changes don't come soon. A few have already left.

Some young police officers have already left and others are looking. 2 I know of are taking sheriffs test next time. Maybe someone should look at the turnover rate over the past 2 years. What's that costing the city?

Glad to hear changes are finally coming. I started this particular thread with a comment in May of 2011 concerning how bad Morgantown looked. Well, it still looks bad. It doesn't take an expert to see whatever direction the city took a couple of years ago surly hasn't worked out. From a resident standing, I tend to agree that the city is really lacking any leadership.

It would be refreshing to read that the local media actually asked questions instead of just accepting statements by public officials. It's no secret in town that there is and has been discord among council and the city manager. I predict it will all spill out once he leaves town.

I have posted about this before on several local issues. The media here (newspaper) is very careful these days and mostly just reports on what they are told versus what's really happening. In this particular case anything involving the city manager or his appointees won't be news until they are long gone. I'm guessing city council actually has a plan. I foresee them quietly letting these people leave their posts one by one.

Channel 12 reported on it tonight. Now let's see if anyone in the media puts 2 + 2 together. He goes to a smaller city in the economically depressed Atlanta area and Friday is his last day. I think I hear cheers from city hall.
