The issues within the city are the fault of the city council. You would have thought the local media would have at least taken notice of the problems that have been brewing for the last couple of years. They (media) have daily contact with city officials and obviously have blinders on not to see what's happened to our city. I am willing to bet that once people start leaving, the media will have plenty of comments to make.

For obvious reasons the media won't touch this until it's over. Agree they will have plenty to say then. With fair but agressive reporting, they could have helped push council to act on the failure of our appointed officials. The process has taken way too long and precious city dollars have been wasted. I am told it's finally coming to a head and people will soon be replaced.

I hear a lot these days about how City Council really doesn't have a clue as to what goes on in the various departments within the City,if they did many would be fired including people at the top, someone needs to tell City Council about this site and let them read this stuff. When you have one person whose ego will not let them delegate authority to the lower people in charge then you have a problem, because now it doesn't matter what the lower bosses say no one listens or cares cause the boss at the top protects them. There have been many instances where people were in complete violation of City Policy as set forth by City Council and nothing was done to them, just one example is when not one but two people threatened to kill a boss and when that the boss brought it to the higher bosses and city attorneys attention they swept in under the rug. City Council needs to bring every single person into executive session and find out what is going on and then act on it, otherwise one of these days when something goes terribley wrong they have no one to blame but themselves.

Wow, from reading your post and several others, looks like the city administration has big problems. Agree that some members of council need to look at this. I watched the meeting on T.V. last night and was pretty amazed at what goes on. I was even more amazed that the media doesn't really cover much of what goes on in the council or county commission meetings.

You can believe it, the city is falling apart and we are told "there is no money" This bunch of idiots has pretty much bankrupted the city in less than 2 years. Council knows what's going on, they just choose not to take any action. Elections in the spring will hopefully bring about changes at the top.

I am close to someone who works for the city and from all accounts, it's a mess. I hear that employees are being encouraged to come forward to voice their concerns but most are scared for their jobs. You would think someone would notice the turnover rate too. Some new people are already being recruited to run for council in the next election so maybe something positive will happen.

Rest assured new names will be on the ballot for the next election. Our members of council have let us down.

Once again Morgantown is buzzing with news that city manager Terrance Moore will soon be departing, followed by the airport director and police chief. Time will tell if the rumors that have circulated for months are true.

It can't happen soon enough. Everyday this lingers, the harder it will be for someone else to get things back on track.

Mr. Moore is the city manager. Morgantown has a population of around 40,000 full time residents but is also home to a major university with 25,000 + students. I don't personally know him but do know that he has not meshed well with our city. From what I have seen and heard he has spent considerable time dealing with three main issues. Bad personnel hiring decisions, bad financial management and lack of leadership.

The link provided by "Interesting" shows a pretty big field of candidates for the County job in Ohio.

I doubt if members of council will say anything negative as Moore tries to move on. I don't think it's all that unusual since city/county managers move around so much. Agree with the other posts, he hasn't worked out too well here mostly because of his choices for department head jobs. If he goes, the others will soon follow. Like him, they have no connection to Morgantown.

My neighbor, who seems to be pretty knowledgeable about the current state of affairs says the current leadership has pretty much bankrupted the city in less than 2 years. I suspect the media will jump all over it once these people are replaced.

Wow, maybe things will change. I've heard for months that Moore would be leaving. If true, I suspect his appointed department heads will depart too. Probably a clean sweep will be a good thing.

It's no secret that Moore is actively looking for a job, any job. He's been mentioned as a finalist for a job in Corpus Christi Tx and in Dayton Ohio. No one thought he or the others he brought in would stay long anyway.

How do you know about the others? Have either of them said anything about leaving?

I would think they are smart enough to see that the "change" is coming again and if certain members of council want to get re-elected it has to be sooner than later.
