What a disgrace. Just saw story on wdtv about federal bureau of prison employees protesting the government furloughs. These guys all looked like inmates. They were fat, unshaven and about as articulate as a coal miner with a third grade education. Where do they find this scum?

Like all correctional facilities, they are having a hard time attracting and keeping qualified people. The turnover rate at prisons is high, especially in high security units like Hazelton.

Tally & Tax Payer- Anytime you want to step up & put your life on the line to show us how it's done, please be my guest. You'd be surprised what these guys face at work everyday. Why don't you call & ask for a tour? See how mighty you feel when you see these "losers" outnumbered 140 inmates to one officer.

I think you are missing the point. Surrounding yourself with dangerous prisoners doesn't make you special, or show you've chosen a dangerous career path for God and country. They took the position because they were under educated or under qualified to hold a real federal law enforcement job where the pay, respect and qualifications are much higher. That being said, you'd think the federal government would hirer people with better qualities, even if they are just mindless key turners.

No doubt Teller, BOP is a goof. "Put your life on the line" - blah blah blah. I guess someone held a gun to their heads to accept the position. Let's pay them all 300,000 a year and pat them on the back and get them a cup of coffee because they dont have enough on the ball to get a good job.

Yes, your name calling shows me just how educated you are. Good on ya. BOP public salaries are public information. Feel free to look them up. I think you'll find you are about $270,000 dollars off but I also understand that facts may get in your way of judging others. Also- the two federal correctional officers murdered in the line of duty just last month DID put their lives on the line. Why don't you tell their grieving families "they don't have enough on the ball to get a good job".

And the "real federal law enforcement" job you hold is? What exactly is it that makes you so special as to judge why these people took their jobs and how under qualified they are? Do tell.

I just read the attorney general gave the BOP the needed funding to avoid furloughs. Thank God, now they can make their trailer payments and still go get drunk every night.
