It's a shame there are no posts on this article. We have a missing person here, but there are hundreds of comments on - a banner being burned or tobacco laws & the lottery.
My prayers go out to the Mowery family & I hope there is a happy ending to this story.

In response to the previous post, I'm thinking there were not too many posts yet because this was put on the web less than an hour ago. But in any event, I really hope that this family is given some good, accurate leads. I can only imagine the pain in not knowing where their daughter is. Praying for you right now.(And by the way, are there any photos available so the public can be on the lookout?)

Why is this just now hitting the media??? The girl has been gone for 2 weeks and the public is just now finding out?! Something has got to be done about the way missing persons cases are handled. Whether the police think foul play is suspected or not - the public needs to know about every missing person as soon as possible. Waiting to tell the public isn't helping anybody - especially the missing person!!! Often times the family will say its not like that person to leave and not call or leave personal items behind. The family knows the person's habits better than anyone else - the police need to stop assuming that when somebody goes missing that no foul play is involved and assume there is until proven otherwise. We might be able to find some of these people sooner and save them the fear and/or torture they may endure. And hopefully find them alive and well. My prayers go to the family.

Not everybody enjoys writing comments about depressing subjects. And honestly, what is there to comment on?? Unless you have information on her whereabouts, what is there to say. People like you are what bring others down, your probably a democrat.

It would help to know when and where she was last seen and to have a picture or at least a description of the young lady in question? More info would help the public, the family, and the girl.

You'd think a newspaper would know this. sheesh

Shame the public didn't know about this beforehand...perhaps a picture could have been distributed and it might jog someone's memory.

The link says the lead police after nine days are now worried about her disappearance. What took so long to come to that conclusion? She left her purse, paycheck and did not tell anyone she was running away. Way to slow of a get your act together on someone’s part. My prayers and thoughts go out to her family. Put her photos up all over the net and highways someone will respond and hopefully she will be found alive.

I just wanna post a couple of comments.. I dont want anyone to think that we dont love Katie.. and that we werent doing anything.. I actually work at the video store in front of where she lives.. and I saw Katie Sunday Feb 18th between 4-5 and as soon as I learned of her disappearance I got started calling her family, friends that I knew, her recruiter and on Thursday I started the flyers with her pic and information on them and got them started to be hung. Also I contacted the newspapers on Friday and got it in the Journal on Saturdays edition.. then the Reporter on Wednesday.. I tryed to get the TV news to air something about it.. and the responce I got from them was that it would have to be annouce to them from an officer.. We had a big problem gettin the officers in our town to do anything.. I think its bc they dont want people to think that its not a safe town.. However no place is safe anymore.. Today (thurdsay 3/1/07) The lady from Channel 13 had read the Reporter on Wednesday and pushed to get this on TV.. then Channel 8 and 59 followed behind.. So I just want everyone to know that we do miss Katie and we are all hopein to find her soon and that she is ok.. Katie if you are reading this.. Baby Girl we love you.. please come home or at least call us and let us know you are ok.. if anyone has further question about Katie feel free to contact on either my email.. [email protected] .. or on myspace at www.myspace.com/mizzcutie1980 also on myspace i have pics on my album of Katie...

This is a hard story to swallow. This is my sons aunt. I just found about it today from my sons mother. I just can't imagine that someone could just take somebody. Katie is a good sweet person. My prayers are with her and her family.

Some posters on here are asking why more news coverage has not been given on this teenagers disappearance. Well, my thoughts on that subject are, well, have you noticed that if somebody is a jock or honor roll student, has money, etc etc etc, they are given an abundance of coverage, but as with this girl, her glasses were held together with dental floss, 5ft 4 160 pounds, and she lived in a trailer. It is sad, but the news seems to care more about the pretty, the popular, the wealthy. All the rest of us are throw aways.
