As for the Chinese I agree with that as well, I like the one next to cook out pretty good too, they have really good sweat tea.
Japanese- I haven't ate at fuji in Hudson in a while but it was really good as I remember. The place next to Burger King/Shoneys in Lenoir is good for my taste and close to me.
You really hit the nail on the head with the Mexican place across form Lowes in Lenoir. It is IMO the best Mexican by far in the area. They have some real authentic food. I dont know what the draw is to Ponchos but they cant touch Mi Carreta.
Burger joint is probably Icey Freeze, I just get aggravated that they dont take depit/credit so I only stop when I have cash on hand. They have great Ice Cream and shakes by far. I have really been impressed so far with The Little Red Pig in the old checkers. They are a local business and have some good burgers, chicken etc etc plus a good price (Onion rings are awesome). If I want a burger I go to one of the aforementioned places instead of the chain fast food places.
As for Italian I love Piccolos and they cant be beat for pizza and pasta. I love their meatball subs when I want a sub. The one thing I like about them is they give you a lot of food like any good Italian joint up north does, you can eat leftovers the next day.
I haven't ate at the Vintage Cafe but I have heard nothing but good about them. That dish sounds awesome for lunch.
Y'all, this is getting out of hand!..Mexican food here is bland, at best! OMG! LOOK, what y'all have here that's great, is the best fries around. Heck, I shouldn't complain. How are you guys supposed to know good Mexican food, or bbq? You eat LIVERMUSH! IT'S rotted your taste buds!!

DUDE! Livermush is the BOMB! But you have to get the right brand. Neeces, Hunters are ok. Jenkins is the best! Pan fry nice and crispy, thick or thin slice. Put that on some taost with mustard and lettuce and you have a real western NC delicacy!

Where to start? Short Story; mediocre food at best and poor facilities
Itís a barn in the middle of nowhere, a grass field parking lot with poor lighting if you leave after dark you better have a flashlight. You pay $10.75 per person at the door to stand in a single buffet line. They might advertise all you can eat but you have to stand in line for 15min if you want to go back for seconds.
There is a very limited menu with nothing for kids. Cole slaw was chopped cabbage and not much else.
Corn fritters were bland and cold. Rolls were cold potato chips were ok. Pickles how do you ruin pickles but they did it. BBQ chicken was really baked chicken and it was dried out, BBQ pork was dry and had little flavor, both were barely warm. I didnít try the BBQ beef. The drink station is separate from the buffet line and costs extra $.75 for tea.
You have a choice of uncomfortable seating, folding metal chairs or a hard wood bench, at long wood table with no table clothes unless you bring your own. Choose your table wisely as there is very poor lighting in the barn. You seat yourself so you have to find a spot to set, better get there early or you might wind up standing up. Spider webs adorn the walls and ceilings so donít be surprised if one drops down to greet you.
I found no redeeming qualities about this place and after leaving I stopped at Subway to get a sandwich.

I have been to fancy restaurants around the world, but my tastes are pretty simple. I really like country cooking, and I personally enjoy Sims Bbq. Do they have the absolute best BBQ around? No, but it is pretty tasty. Is the selection limited? Yes, but it is enough for me. A roll, chips, very standard tasting pickles, good coleslaw, really good beans, and I usually get the dark meat chicken. I don't think it is dry. Also, people usually cut in line on their 2nd trip and no one seems to mind.

A lot of people come for the entertainment. I enjoy the music and watching the children and adults dance/clog is cute. My kids like to walk around the property some too (pond, etc.) so that's a plus. Also, I have never felt like the place was dirty it all. It has a charm for me because it reminds me of the dining hall at my childhood summer camp.
That being said, I understand that Sims is not for everyone, but it does have its avid fans.

Best ribs 12 Bones in Asheville on Sweeten Creek RD. Trouble is ,you have to travel up I- 40 to get there, defintely worth the trip. Its in a renovated gas station, also a location in town,Riverside Drive. This one looks like Shatley Springs,in West Jefferson as far as the way it looks, rustic looking. They serve Bbq also.
