I am 60 years old with severe but "invisible" health issues. It would be so nice it the cashier at FoodLion today had helped get the bags into my cart after she checked my groceries instead of folding her arms and turning her back on me to lean against her station. I was in no way rude to her. I've done that job in the past and so have a lot of sympathy for checkers because I know how awful some customers can be, so I am always very polite to them. If FoodLion wants to offer Aldi service, they should drop to Aldi prices. It will be a while before I go back.

Reach across to tap her on the shoulder? I have never had a checker be so rude as to turn her back before without even a thank you. This happened at the Lenoir FoodLion on 18 near the intersection. The store was not at all busy yet and when I worked as a checker we would have been fired for turning our back to lounge and not putting orders larger than a bag or two in the customer's cart.
I really just came here to vent a little. I didn't want to call the store to complain because, rude as she was, I didn't want to endanger her job. Oh well. She will be old someday, too. Sooner than she thinks. Youth flies by quickly.

Did you ever think maybe to contact the manager? Do you really think you'll get results by posting on this site?? I just don;t get it as to why people complain about a business on this site??????????

I'd guess that "clueless" would be more appropriate than "rude". Kids these days simply do not realize how such a thing comes off (they barely grasp the concept of face-to-face interaction at all). A gentle request and I sure she would've been glad to help, even to load your car in the parking lot.

At Food Lion most of the time I'm a little embarrassed when the cashier takes the effort to run around her station to put my bags in my cart - which usually does happen, unless I've already grabbed them.

You could always post her name here, and I'm sure someone will pass the message along (although it'd probably be better for her if you'd just call the store)....:)

I had a cashier at the same store literally snatch the cash out of my hand. He was a young kid who probably didn't know any better. I called the store manager after I calmed down and the manager was very receptive and understanding. He assured me he would talk to the kid and it wouldn't happen again. My point is you should call so the cashier can be trained better and hopefully learn some manners!

Yes, should say 'excuse me, could you help me........' or call the store. I don't think you would get the clerk fired, some of the younger (and older) people nowadays just don't have a clue. There isn't a lot of customer service training ............ or there doesn't appear to be anyway............
