I would have to agree with you. Hard to get a sensible thread going.

Get about a half dozen guns, and stock up on ammo. I mean, A LOT of ammo. I'd get a shotgun, small caliber rifle, a couple handguns, and a long range rifle. Ammo would be hard to come by, so some reloading equipment would be wise too. Get common calibers too.

I have that covered, but of course safe storage is a big issue. Actually tough to go it alone but then again how do you trust anyone these days

TRUST NO ONE! Survival in a group would be easier, but someone would turn on you in a second, so you need to be prepared to do the same. If there is a doomsday scenario, I would only stick with my close family. And be prepared to move in case of environmental concerns. I have a nice little setup here in the mountains, but can be on the move within an hour.

It's you locos that are going to end the world. Not God. If you beleive the Bible then we still need a third world war.

It is not possible to have a conversation without the religious right chiming in?? Quacks, look back thru history at events including, depressions, natural disasters, and more which dropped the unprepared on their a$$. Now consider the potential events that could easily occur, large scale power outages, avian flu, terrorist /cyber attacks, financial meltdown. Not always an end of the world event but a real pain in the a$$ for those not prepared. Let the local population go a few days without food or water ,then tell me I am a flake and was wrong.

We are prepared decently till the "gotta move out" , then opens an entire new issue presents itself.

Storms happen. Power outages happen. It may not be 'doomsday', but doesn't hurt to be prepared.

I'm not prepping for any religious end of the world. I'm actually prepping to protect myself from religious nuts, especially the ones from the Middle East. And I vote Democrat. You should ALWAYS be prepared for something. Like you bet said, prep for storm and power outages. You never know what might happen.

If it be in our time or not, just a quick glance back thru history shows every great nation has fell. The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians etc all thought they would rule forever. How did that work out?? Secondly, we are one mutated gene away from another black plague, SARS, avian flu or worse type of contagious epidemic. Last but not least, we are one solar flare or cyber attack away from losing our power grid, which is already fragile, leaving us without power, ways to dispense fuel, communications, etc. So if the power shut off tonight, how many days are you good for before your fuel, food and supplies run out.??

Your a freaking Einstein. People like you are the perfect example of what is wrong with this forum. Nothing intelligent to say, simple minded, uneducated and add nothing to this forum. No wonder this area is in the condition it is. Bet you make your family proud. Lol

Wally, just as I stated on another post. You can't argue with ignorance, they resort to name calling and gibberish to cover the fact they have nothing sensible to contribute. Ignore them and hopefully they will go away.

Tell the people in northeast that. Many still without power, heat, fuel and water. Who ever expected super storms to hit NY and NJ 2 yrs in a row?? if we got hit with a freak super snow storm this year for example I assume your family is good for a while without additional food, fuel, heat or power?? Mine is.
