My daughter is going to high school next year and she wants to try out for the cheerleading squad. I was wondering what you mothers and studends think about the cheerleading squad here. I've never actually went to a game and watched them. Also, who is the coach, and what is your opinion on them?
Thank you!

Okay great! The only thing i have heard is some of the girls smoke pot, i also heard the coach has disrespect for the girls, and does not treat them right. However, you know how this town is. I'm very pleased to hear you say they are a good group of girls!

Well good for Miranda Freer for thinking for herself and questioning authority. This is the type of leadership we don't normally see on our cheerleading squads anymore. Perhaps she is one of the rare few who can see through the propaganda and lies created by the alcohol and tobacco industries. By making the decision to avoid alcohol and partake in marijuana use instead for teenage recreation she has drastically reduced her chances of being a statistic. She is less likely to be involved in an automotive accident, she is less likely to have her grades suffer, and she is less likely to be a victim of rape and violence. Additionally, whereas alcohol and other drugs have been show to kill brain cells, pot actually enhances neural connections in the brain. I would still however try to talk my daughter into doing something a little more academic in nature for her extracurricular activities. Does UCHS still have a debate team? Maybe she should run for student government. If it is physical activity she is looking for then maybe she should try volunteering for habitat for humanity. I know building houses is a great way to stay in shape. All these things would greatly help her chances of getting accepted into a decent college. Not to be stereotypically condescending, but aren’t cheerleaders known for being superficial. I mean, what kind of message does it send to tell our young girls that they should spend their spare time practicing nifty displays of flexibility and coordination to be performed in support of the more masculine sex’s efforts to “win” in a competitive nature? Have you also signed her up for cooking and c*ck-sucking 101?
