From the May 9, 2012 Online edition of the Gleaner and the Evansville Courier & Press

A church employee in Union County was recently jailed after being charged with credit card fraud for allegedly using a church credit card to purchase about $10,000 worth of personal items.

The Kentucky State Police charged Letecia Cambron, 47, Morganfield, with felony counts of fraudulent use of a credit card over $10,000 and fraudulent use of a credit card under $10,000.

Cambron was charged after a three-month investigation into the misuse of funds at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Uniontown.

Cambron, a church parishioner, was employed as the parish's secretary and bookkeeper for five years, according to Mike Clark, chairman of St. Agnes' parish council. Her employment has been terminated, he said.

The state police said the investigation revealed that for the last two years, Cambron had been using church credit cards to purchase personal items.

Clark said the items included a laptop computer, jeans and groceries.

The church was alerted to the situation after "we got a call from a credit card company, which suspected fraud," he said.

The case was presented to the Union County grand jury which has since indicted Cambron on the felony charges.

Clark said Cambron, who was an "active" church member, was a "trusted employee."
