Could someone let the admin know that everyone that works there love their job but they also have a family. Just like the undergrounders and admin outside. Im tired of explaining to my kids why their dad cant be at events in their life because they have to work 6-7 days a week. Its corporate greed and injustice. Something has to give SOON

Understand your position. although keep in mind many minors are very uncertain of what their near future holds for them right now. It sounds like at least for now you do have sonera stability and in this industry that accounts for lot

I totally understand that and appreciate the career he has. However they expect them to be there constantly. Why not hire more people and get them some relief? They brag about these record profits but it stems from the pressure put on the average employee. http://m.courierpress.com/news/2013/apr/26/co...

My husband swings every two weeks and works every other weekend. He works underground. I have to look at the calendar to even try and figure out if he will be around when something is going on. It is all part of the title "coal miner" and it has been that way for years!

Do you work outside the home or are you a SAHM?

Yes that is true mine started out 10years ago rotating ask 3 shifts one week after the next. Mining is full of all different shift arrangements and when we are lucky enough to be working its almost certain to be loads of OT. I used to be a SAHM which left me showing uo on his behalf more often than not. Now i also work 40 to 60 hours each week so we just have to work hard to get the most out of the time off we get together. It truly does just come with the territory. Those bug digits are what keep your job secure. How many years has your spouse been in the mines.

Mine too is mandatory 3 out of 4 weekends each month but usually gets asked to do the 4th. it does get aggravating at times but the 2 weeks of shutdown each year and paid time off through out the year do compensate lot.

As far as the upper management not having to do the OT that's pretty standard any place though. Just a perk of being in the upper positions. Most of your upper management is salaried anyhow so they mostly do their 40 and as little as possible over.

Have him take a minimum wage job. Then he can spend more time with you. But STFU about missing the money or he's not being paid enough when he takes it.

wait...you wouldn't have him take a lower paying job because you've gotten use to living the life of a coal miners wife. That is also called greed. Don't be calling corporate greedy when you love the income just as much.

Your likely a professional if you make more money than him. I would doubt thats the case though since you used the word douche when talking to someone.

The prep plant has to run 6-7 days a week because it's not big enuff to handle the tonage we run at the mine . But i heard they are adding on don't know how true that is

They ARE adding on, but it will take over a year to complete. Meanwhile, wives, husbands, and children grow further apart with resentment a byproduct

I think we are about to cut the unit production WAY BACK to relieve some of the prep plant pressure. Seems to be the only solution since management (who sit in their judgemental armchairs) aren't doing anything about it.

The unit guys are already taking steps in this direction, and obvious results are coming soon

Odd shifts and long hours are hard on a family. But it's just the way it is. Gotta be glad o have a steady job and income.
