I don't like the idea of individualizing the difference between cities, i mean of course its going to look better and bring in people with better money flow just because its brand new houses and businesses. However did anyone forget about the crime rate that goes on in Moreno valley? NOT TO MENTION:There only about 5 feet apart! Also has anyone even heard what the people call Moreno valley these days? Murder valley! Yes, this is because Moreno valley has a lot of people migrating from the high crime rate cities, and when they come do you think their bringing a golden retriever with a white picket fence? NO I DON'T THINK SO! What i am getting to is no matter what you do to change the name the people around it will stay the same!!!

Im glad they changed that part of Moreno Valley to Rancho Belago. If it makes some people happy, hooray for them! Stop hating. The city could use more money and if it will bring business and people here, then i say do it!! This is all for the good of the whole. I think you guys just don't like the name to change because you will feel that you are living in the slums of the area if you do not live in the 92555 area. Get over it! uugghh.

honestly I am considered Rancho Bel Lago because I'm a resident in the 92555 area & it hasn't really effected n e thing.. I still put mo val down & my items still get shipped I still pop up on map-quest etc... so really it doesnt matter though because the 92555 kinda has 2 city names now... it'll take a while before they consider taking moval out completely... & i don't really think n e one voted I didn't even see a memo.. i found out from one of my teachers... but until then ima stay w/ the Origianl city name that i recognize... Murda valley jk moreno valley

The reason this "upscale" community was named is that Benzevi could not bring in Skechers, so he had an area with newer homes renamed then sold the idea of an upscale neigborhood to the people, and then again sold that idea to Skechers. I learned this from his community meeting. I went thinking it was a group apposed to the idea, only to find out he set up the meeting in which he explained the aforementioned.

He then could not get the vote passed by the council, so he donated money to the opponents of the council members back in the last election. Now the vote has passed with his entirely newly elected members.

Benzevi single handedly, did all this to get his big 100+ million dollar deal. Rancho Belago or not the Skechers project will be brought to Moreno Valley. Good job minions!!!

Rancho belago is Moreno Valley.

Benzeevi suckered and sold down the river all the residents of Moreno Valley.

How much did all those "Rancho Belago" signs and decorative sign posts , and the labor to install them end up costing the residents of Moreno Valley? Not just the residents of "Rancho Belago", but those who live somewhere off Ironwood and Pigeon Pass Rd.?

I would surmise that the burden of cost plus maintenance falls on the shoulders of all residents of Moreno Valley.

Benzeevi/Highland Fairview is a psoriasis on the city and residents of Moreno Valley.

I live in the 92555 area and NEVER refer to it as Rancho Belago, give me a brake.

This name is just for the developers and their friends on the Planning Commission. By the way, one of the major members of the Commission is a greedy real estate agent who has named her brokerage Rancho Belago Realty. Go figure!!!

Citizens of Moreno Valley, you need to know what is really going on in City Hall. How self serving, a realtor on the Planning Commission. Talk about underhanded deals going on.

Renaming the east side of Moreno Valley was a smart move in terms of economic growth and development. I come from the other end of Moreno Valley and I absolutely love living in RB. There is a clear difference in the aesthetics of it all. It is a noticeably peaceful and quiet area with homeowners who take care of their lawns and decorate their properties, raising property values. The new spaced out developments make shopping much more pleasant as opposed to driving into the mayhem that the shopping center at Day st produces. When I am asked where I live, I clearly say RB because there is a difference. I will be sure to do my part to make this area grow and remain desirable.

First of all, I don't think the P.E. has the best of intentions in bringing up the subject. For the most part, their reporting on anything about Moreno Valley is anything but positive. It is nothing more than a fly in the ointment in so many ways & by so many examples.
And as for voting, sometimes voting to change the way our city government is run is more important than changing those who actually run our government. I for one, would like to see the mayor voted on by the people rather than be selected by council members.
As for Rancho Belago, well that's just progress. And if you moved here because you didn't like progress wherever it is you came from, you're sure as God made little green apples going to do it every time someone proposes a change. The best I can say for your efforts is that your concerns will be heard, appreciated and accommodated insofar as much as they may be incorporated into those changes only as it is for the good of the entire city. You must remember that this is not only your city, but a whole lot of other people's too. Otherwise I would expect portions of this city to be named Tomsville or Deannalandia. We have to live with you just as much as you have to live with us. So let's all grow up and learn to live together instead of acting like our children & grandchildren. Some fine examples we are.

lived here for almost 20 years. I HATE that Moreno Valley is being fashioned after Orange county. This was a nice quiet rural kinda of country area, ranches, fruit groves, not so many people. NOW, developers and politicians see $$$$$ and there goes the neighborhood right along with the name. More Crime, Traffic.......Need to be more of a mom and pop city no walmart sams club big shop area. simple is better. UNLESS you are one of those people that have to look the part. How I miss the dirt roads and that simple in the country setting

This was a sleepy area. slow and simple now we have the money hungry and high and mighty telling us we live in slums. Im in 92553 and lived in 92551. After almost 20years I feel folks from O.C. and San Diego should have stayed there.

If they are so proud of the name, why is it when crime happens in that part of town they go back to using Moreno Valley as their name? Be proud, own it.
