When I first heard about the idea, I didn't think too much of it. But now I like it! I've seen more and more people starting to use the name. Someone came into my store and paid with a check with Rancho Belago in the address! And apartment homes are being advertised with Rancho Belago as well. It's a way to identify that area of the city, rather than just saying "the east side" which makes it sound like a New York slum.

I think it is a great idea. It awakes curiosity in people, and that is exactly what we want, because of all the new home developments and new businesses that are coming to this area. It is a great marketing strategy. I love it and hope that more great people become part of Moreno Valley and help it to become what they are saying it might grow to be (The Beverly Hills of the Inland Empire)

Belago is actually two words in Spanish or Italian.

Bella meaning beautiful
Lago meaning Lake (as in Lago Perris)

I was pleasantly surprised of the name change.

Oh yes... I've heard of it. Been there. Again, it's no Beverly Hills.

But hey, if it makes you feel better believing that the IE has areas resembling Beverly Hills - then more power to ya tiger!

Well that's your opinion, others may say it's better than Beverly Hills and yes it does feel good knowing that there are a lot of nice areas all over California not just in LA.

I think this is a wonderful change for the city, I have a home in RIVERSIDE CANYON CREST, AND A SINGLE LEVEL OFF OF MORENO BEACH AND CACTUS which we live in, i live in the 92555 area code can any one tell me please if i am considered the new area, I live right next to the new FANCY COMMUNITY that is coming up in MORENO VALLEY,
This is a boost to get people from other areas out here, all areas need a upscale area it is much needed. Along with our new Shopping Centers and the Restaurants in town, we our in need of some UPSCAPLE HOUSING, which never hurt a thing, in this market place though, i have to see just how many people are going to afford them, but People will be coming here from other areas.
Moreno Valley is in need of some great change and this is the area to do it in, all the growth off of Moreno Beach is just great for this city, I am happy to live here, and happy for the changes.
AND being ITALIAN i just love the thought of the new name.

I think having an upsacle area in M.V. and a new name, is such a wonderful idea, this city should be no different then any other, most all areas have a upscale area, and M.V. should be no different, no different then Riverside, CANYON CREST OR MOCKING BIRD CANYONG OR ORANGE CREST, OR HILLCREST, THIS IS NEEDED and now is the time for change. Some great changes have been happening to M.V. such as the new shopping centers, new Restaurants and business's comming up.
There is so much need for upscale area, beautiful landscaping, lakes, parks, trails, area for the little ones, and the pets. New street lights maybe the old fashion ones, this city needs an uplift and a new change, the new area 92555 by NASON AND MORENO BEACH, has so much happening, why not have upscale houusing for M.V. this could only benefit our city. I for one see the changes as positive, you have great areas in RIVERSIDE, and then you have more upscale, M.V. should be no different, infact, I feel that M.V. needs a whole new DOWTOWN M.V. AREA, think about it, where is DOWNTOWN M.V. I KNOW WHERE DOWNTWOWN RIVERSIDE IS, AND IT IS PRETTY NICE, COME ON M.V. PUT THIS CITY ON THE MAP, AWAY WITH THE NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF THIS CITY, AND IN WITH THE NEW, I FOR ONE SEE THESE CHANGES AS POSITIVE.

Have you checked out the ranchobelago.com website
Its great.
i have also heard that Councilman Charles White has started a petition to reverse the city council decision to name the east end of the city rancho belago. He must be mad. its probably time for him to go. he dose not even represent the Rancho belago district.

this is the best thing that the city council ever done for the city. it has already shown results. I read that for the first time in the history of the city an major company with a 1000 employees is locating in Moreno Valley's Rancho Belago area.
Chrles White has never missed an opportunity to put his empty ego infront of what is good for the city. in 15 yearsbhe has done nothing for the city execpt take out over $100,000 for himself for being on a "volenteer" council position. he has never brought any jobs to the city or contributed any ideas or real vision. now he is trying to take away another good thing from the city. its time for him to let others get on the ciy council so we can move on.

Rancho Belago is it!
I have an investment house in RB. It surely feels good to hear or read this new city name. Because, it has been annoying with the name "Moreno Valley" since when I found out what Moreno means in Spanish, "brown." (I am proud Ital-Span and I am brown myself so no racial basis) Rancho Belago means "Land of Beautiful Lakes."

Rancho Belago?
What a poke in the eye to long time residents of Moreno Valley by an elitist group of newcomers and investors who don't like the name of the city they chose to buy property in.
Apparently it's okay to barge into a new community and change it's name to suit ones selfish purposes.
The decision to split an entire cities boundaries in half, and then arbitrarily name it with some random collection of words that speaks nothing of the areas history is evidence of the lack of concern or respect for the community as a whole.
Residents of Moreno Valley, which is what rancho belago really is, deserve the right to vote on a decision of this type.

I Have Lived In This Town For Over 42 Years.

When I First Moved Here It Was Called Sunnymead,Moreno, and Edgemont..When The City was Incoporated 1984..It Was Renamed "Moreno Valley".

Now why in tarnation do we have to go back to the renaming parts of our city to other names again..What The Heck did the incoporation mean???

Apparently NOTHING!!! To these Big Pocket Developers It's all about Money & Greed and Big Flashy Bling Bling Names To Sell Their Cheapo Properties...

Don't Go Away Mad..... Just GO AWAY!!!!!!!
BIG POCKETS Developers May Your Dumb Ideas And All Your Greedy Profits Evaporate Out of You Bank Accounts :-P

How many people here received and read the mailer that proponents of rancho belago sent out?
Talk about a load of self serving, deceitful, hysteria inducing drivel!

No doubt master minded by everyones favorite two faced developer looking to save his own backside by instilling unnecessary fear into an unsuspecting public while he finds a way to swindle them out of their hard earned property value.

Why not just call the aquabella development rancho belago? You know, the area between Cactus and Iris and Nandina and Lasalle (the old UCR agricultural property that is being developed into the Taj Mahal of the IE). That way only the area it encompasses will carry the name.

The only reason to call the entire eastern portion of MORENO VALLEY rancho belago is so that the developer can say that aquavelva is in rancho belago and not actually in Moreno Valley.

This was a deceptive decision made by a city council with two members voting to benefit themselves. The true intent is to divide the city and take the revenue of all new businesses from the established city. The real issue is: Are the creators of this so-called community going to publicly state that they will not attempt to create a new city? If this is true, why not state it? This should be brought to a ballot vote. Please sign the petition.
