The sad news is...they are building where they shouldn't,not wanting to build where was zoned all because the developer bought two elections. Moreno Valley is becoming the City of Industry where business buys elections and the people get short changed. If they had built where it was zoned it still would have created the same number of jobs. The jobs notion was just a distraction to make someone richer.

Put 2400 people to work when it opens???? Let's see if that happens. There may be a few open positions because I'm sure everyone already employed will tranfer from Ontario. Of course the MV school board officials were there, they are the ones feeding Benzeev's pocket book along with the City Council.

Only in Moreno Valley can a distribution center be considered a great accomplishment. The press has been this guys best friend. I just hope the Press Enterprise tells the true story about the real number of Moreno Valley citizens that get a job in this warehouse and how much money they get paid. It will be clear the terrible impacts of truck traffic and smog far out-weigh the small number of jobs.

On February 3rd, 2009, during the Moreno Valley city councils public hearing on the appeal of the denial of the Highland Fairview Corporate Park Project, David Weinberg, COO & Executive Vice President of Skechers U.S.A. Inc. stated that, "the employment numbers for all of Skechers North American Operations were, 900 regular employees, with a peak seasonal employment rate of 1,200. With these jobs covering management, technical, and regular employees, with 15% of those jobs considered management level."

These numbers are based on the current operation, and function of their present warehousing and distribution facilities, which are not operated with today's modern technology (i.e. robotics, in place of human workers). Also these numbers include those management job which are held in Manhattan Beach, CA., and will remain there within there Corporate Headquarters.

Mr. Benzeevi has long claimed that the number of 2500 jobs, was a mere fantasy created by those who opposed the project. As Iddo Benzeevi has put it many times over, "ones fact is anthers fiction."

However he himself put the number of 2,500 out there, and it appears he still is.

This move by Skechers in these economic times, into Moreno Valley, makes no business sense. Also why would a company upgrade its distribution operation, in a way which would lower the overall employment needs of their corporation, only to see it increase those needs by 1,500 employees?

At least illegal immigrants are hard workers that work in anything to support their families. Not like others who are legal and don't work and just sit in their but all day complaining about everything.

How has the QUANTITY of jobs TRIPLED from 800 original estimate to 2400? Do not these people know what is on record? If the jobs are going higher then so must the traffic estimates! Highland-Fairfield should do a new EPA report to factor in these 1600 NEW jobs!

Skechers must also be anticipating INREASED diesels trucks deliveries! Why else would employment figures be so inflated now? Beenzevi can't have it both ways. More jobs= more deliveries = more traffic. Or have they been lying to us? Where's the truth?

"Robots will move the merchandise around the factory", per David Weinberg, Skechers' COO, LA Business Jornal, Nov 12, 2007.

"That (new facility) will accomodate up to 800 jobs at it's peak". By J. Ascenzi, The Business Press, Sunday Oct. 21, 2007.

"Robots will move merchandise around the factory" said David Weinberg, Skechers' Chief Operating Officer, per LA Bus Journal, Nov 12, 2007.“That (new facility) facility will accommodate up to 800 jobs at its peak, according to officials familiar with the project.” By JOSEPH ASCENZI, jascenzi@thebizpress.com, per The Business Press, Sunday, October 21, 2007.- http://www.thebizpress.com/news/stories/BP_Ne...

Since the PE censors & deletes comments on their site I must repeat: If you are going to fill 2,400 jobs you MUST have a Human Resources department and should be lining up talent NOW.

There is not a single job listed and there is no HR department for people to call or an address to send a resume or to apply.

"I want to see (Skechers) come to fruition. But I'm not willing to bend the rules."- per Bonnie Flickinger

Speaking of illegal aliens, I was glad to see councilman Batey bring up the illegals that hang out in front of the Home Depots, how they are trashing the place, and interfering with the traffic,by running out into the streets and harassing the people sitting in their cars while they wait for the light to change, or following them into the parking lots and harass them there.

Of course Jesse Molina, tried to defend that by saying well I always see whites and african americans hanging out there looking for work. LOL

Well of course Richard Stewart, had to slap Jesse by saying he has never seen any whites or african americans hanging out there looking for work, but also concluded that they did need to bring this back for a study session.

It's a start!!!!!

I agree they are just transferring people over, It's beginning to look like an eye sore. Too bad I live nearby, there goes the view.

You are overdoing it they don't harass you like that. These are hard times so the illegals are going to be even more of a target to those that are looking for work. I know, I was born here and lost a city job because I could not speak spanish. But I am not going to blame them. I admit I was upset but I can't blame them.

Not my words, these were the words of our council members, this is what they have encountered, and feel someone is going to get hurt, if they do not address this issue.

You know, all those day laborers that hang out infront of Home Depot probably wouldn't be there if there weren't people willing to hire them.

I really don't care for illegals, but hey, atleast those guys are willing to work and not begging for money. For that they get some respect from me, but not too much. I do have a reputation to keep up.

Yeah, and what a reputation that is, so kind of you to have compassion on human beings.

This is not surprising the Baca clan and there followers have no class they all act like a bunch of neanderthals. This just confirms what people say about them being a bunch of racists.

Give Baca the boot in November, we do not need her kind.
