POST FROM R.ELLISON
....I live here in Silver City and yeah, I work for Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold. We got rid of idiots like you to keep good people. We got stuck with you losers when we had no other choice. You were never real miners. You come and go. Why cry about it? Go back to Walmart, Snappy Mart, whereever. When we need you again, you will comee back....you always do. We are the only company in the world that will pay you more than minimum wage. Do you think we really care if you come file a class action lawsuit against us? We are a mining company. We spend our lives in court. We budget every year for lawsuits and conisider it a cost of doing business. Instead of sitting around here doing drugs, you should of finished high school and went on to college. It does not matter if you leave this town, when we ramp back up again, there will always be new losers like you that will come running for our jobs. Go spend your time on that nutt cases website. We don't care. In the end, when we ramp back up again, nobody will care about a group of losers, like yourself, hung up in court trying to sue us.

Letter sent to editor of FMISUCKS.ORG from former Bagdad shovel operator.
I have been out of work for about 18 months now. My two brothers drove haul trucks at the Morenci mine and they were sent home about 4 weeks ago. My dad worked at Chino, when it first opened. I guess what I am trying to say is that my family and most of my friends, are miners. I have been operating a shovel since I came out of high school. Phelps Dodge and Kennecott sent my dad home three different times when he worked for them and I was sent home in 2001 when copper prices dropped through the floor. Phelps Dodge and Kennecott, they cared about their people, Freeport McMoran don't care about nobody! These managers that are calling us losers just because we don't have a grand college education, don't understand what a miners life is all about. We spend the best part of our lives in tunnels and pits, that no sane person would ever go in to. We cough up blood and sweat out years of our short lives, reaching in to the bowels of the earth to bring up precious metals that other people lives depend on. When the suits on Wall Street decide to play with the prices, we go home on unemployment and suffer a poor mans' existence.
My dad died of lung cancer. When he was laid to rest, his lungs weighed more than the rest of his body, as they were filled with silica dust. Maybe we are losers, however I will tell you this much, nobody I knew at Kennecott or Phelps Dodge would of ever called us losers. Since my brothers, my friends and I went to work for Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold, a choice that was forced on us, we feel like losers. Freeport McMoran does not care about anything but money. They do not have a clue what it is to be a miner. People like my dad would of never worked for such a company. I think that that these recent events are a good thing in disguise of a horrible one. Folks, don't give your life to a company that could careless about you. There are better jobs out there. Any company that would call you stupid and call you losers, doesn't deserve your loyalty. Let FMI try to ramp up their mines again without us, then they will find out who the real losers are. These same managers who are calling us losers will be out of job with no one to manage.

Letter from mine worker in FMI's new Africa project.
I remember our trip to Silver City earlier this year. Six others and I from my homeland stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, furnished to us by Freeport McMoran Copper and Gold. Everyone was very nice to us and treated us well. I cannot believe that "Thankful" who posted on your site works at the mine we trained at because he or she is omitting very important facts. Yes, we "brought photos and told stories of our children and indescribable human suffering" in our homeland, however, we also told everyone we met that the "incredible suffering" our children / families have endured, was caused by the corruption brought about by our military and Freeport McMoran Copper and Gold.
While we were in Silver City, we trained with a very nice blasting supervisor from the Grassberg mine in Indonesia. He shared many like stories of corruption in his homeland, brought about by Freeport McMoran Copper and Gold and the military in his homeland. Thankful, whoever he or she is, must live in a dreamland that I and my colleagues are not privy to. How could anyone be "thankful" for a company who is directly responsible for the deaths of 5.4 million people and the suffering of countless others? A "new beginning?" My people are dying at the rate of 45,000 people a month, due to famine and diseases. If that is a "new beginning" or something we should be grateful to Freeport McMoran Copper and Gold for, let thankful's family and friends suffer the horrible deaths my countrymen our suffering and we shall see how "thankful" he or she is. "Brains?" "Thankful," I don't know which illicit drugs you are obviously taking, but I suggest that you find a rehabilitation center immediately!I shall include you in my prayers.
To finalize my post, while my colleagues and I were in Silver City training, we met hundreds of people who contracted with the mine and several people from the corporate offices in Phoenix; none of them slept on floors while they were staying in Silver City.
EDITOR FMISUCKS.ORG Learn from these stories. The management of Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold could careless about you or your families. You don't work for Phelps Dodge anymore. Make FMI pay! It won't cost you a single penny.

Okay. I feel for you FMI guys; but NO advertising. Get rid of the ads for fmisucks.org or you'll all be reported. I'd rather hear your opinions on the matter without having to look at hyperlinks to a website.

Its unfourtianate that this had to hapen to the people and the comunities. But the big buisnes has allways seen there employees as nunbers and exspendable, thats the way they are. Theres no recource from these. Take the good times and injoy them, when the bad times come around buckel down and survive. Try to get your familes together and your comunities too. thats the only way we will servive the bad times were going throught. Its sad that when its good times that we have almost no proublems, then we become unfortinatly disabled we try to find some one to blame. Thats not cool'.We can still be strong as an comunity if we work together. Not all comunitys have big buisnces in there towns and they are doing fine. Why not ours./
