The death house was located across from Eddie Stenits by little river. It was a block building and was later torn down. The graves were moved somewhere north of the mill property. This info was passed on to me from a family that has lived in this area for close to 100 yrs. It was a place of quarintine for contageous and terminal illness as I understood them to say. Hope this is accurate info. Thank God for modern vaccines!!!

Wasn't Bronwnie Henson an Attorney? I think I know a lady that worked in that Hotel and a call girl. Her name was Annette Malone... Does anyone remember her. She was a very attractive lady "i say that loosely...

Knew some of her relatives, but she was probably working under aged. Yes Brownie was a well liked attorney that decided to run against JV Conran. JV brought charges on Brownie over the under aged girls, and to get out of jail time, He ate defication. This enabled him to use incompetence or crazyness for a defence. It was sad.

There used to be a resident by the name of Tony Caldwell. He was one of the first, if not the 1st Troop E State Patrolmen. I knew him well, and he'd tell me stories. When D. Gray killed a New Madrid Co. Deputy & shot out Cowboy Ramsey's eye, he sat in a tree waiting on D for 3 days.

You may not know it, but Mrs. Rosie of New Madrid had and ran a hore house & was run out of New Madrid a couple of times, only to return with bootleg whiskey for the lawyers & politicians.

wait a minute get your facts straight before you talk about someone who is no longer here to defend himself.(D.Gray did not kill nobody he was framed for something he didn't do because he was a poor man and he did his time for something cletus did by mistake and told that D. Gray did it whenever he new good and Damn well that he was the one. and your little patrolman told you some hear say about somebody that wasn't true and back then they didn't have technology like they do now to prove it but, anyhow he did time for something he didn't do and got compinsated for it and got a nice stretch of land is all he wanted out of the deal so quite gossiping and putting peoples names on here unless you know the straight up facts.

cause he is my flesh and blood that's why! and i know cletus's family too! this is all i have heard about for 37 years so i know my facts are straight if that answers your question.cletus was the Deputy. I know his wife. and she even new how dirty he could be. and she new that D. GRAY was inocent that's why even his family was on D. Gray's side. isn't that a hoot. I didn't comne on here to start anything just to defend my family on a topix that was said and not correct

Well, I knew that they had been picking on D, & My Dad was born in 1908, & is kin to him. Guess that makes me kin too. Dad said he always liked D, & that he was a likable person. They picked on him because they thought they could get away with it because of some trouble D had gotten into before. I understood that some cop even shot a hole through his door 4 no reason & Dad felt sorry 4 him over that.

Anyway, I'm glad he got out & got compensated, but it still wasn't enough. New Madrid still tries to pull that crap on people.
