I live in that area and have a dog
That looks like a wolf.... I've not seen or heard of a wolf though around the area.

Mountain lions and panthers are the same. Did you mean bobcat? We've had one of those right by our front porch right in our residential area.

Mountain loins and panthers are not the same.Panthers are black and smaller.People are seeing cougars, not mountain lions in this regions. There are plenty of coyotes but there isn't any lions or tigers.

Wrong.

"What is the difference between a panther and a cougar?

Mountain lions, pumas, cougars, catamounts and panthers are names for the same species: Puma concolor. Florida panthers are one of more than 20 subspecies of pumas. Scientists determine subspecies by differences in physical and genetic features."

Taken from http://www.fws.gov/floridapanther/panther_faq...

BTW, Florida panthers are a beautiful tawny color.

I had heard several accounts from people, who I had always believed to be reliable sources, telling that they'd seen mountain lions here in KY. But it was always heresay. Today I saw pictures! A man from West Liberty and I were discussing the local wildlife. Thinking of this thread, I asked about mountain lions. He pulled out his phone and proceeded to show me pictures of a mountain lion on the front porch of a friend of his in West Liberty! It was on the porch looking into the window. Amazing! Such beautiful creatures they are. Also told me of some scary coyote encounters that a couple of local hunters have had. Very interesting conversation! And to me, the proof I needed to know for sure that they are, indeed, here.
