If Wendell White isn't a slumlord then I'm the tooth fairy. There are many slumlords around here and they should all be in jail. Lucky someone hasn't been killed. Prey on the poor and desperate, suck them dry for a house that isn't fit for a dog. They should all be in jail and their properties seized.

Wonder why people don't pay. Most of the places are falling apart with empty promises to make repairs. Most of these forums talking about trashy trailers are ones he owns. I don't know anyone that is going to willing hand their hard earned money over to someone for letting them live in nothing better than a cardboard box. I have had property owners tell me they wish he would tear down and discard his garbage, so called homes because it causes their properties to loose value.

Wendall White is a piece of trash. He buys garbage houses and mobile homes, does no repairs and then charges $200-300 a bedroom.

He fixes nothing, complains if you party and gets all pissy over rent money. My best advice - stay far, far away from the White family (unless you're a bi/gay guy; then you should call Cliff).

You shouldn't judge the whole family just because of one person.

I will take up for him. Even though he sounds like an awful and careless person through the words on here, he is still getting away with it and making plenty of money. If you aren't satisfied with staying in his apartments then fix it. Move some where else. Don't keep supporting him. As for the rest of you who think something needs to be done, your word is no good here. Leaving messages about him on here isn't helping what could be his next "victim". If you want something done you'll have to get out and spread the word to the proper authorities.

I had rented from Wendill back when I was a 19- 20 yr old. He was really nice. I had heard alot of bad things but I found out that those ppl usually left owing him money. Lol also, why would you pay to repair what some skanky townie is going to pay to live in for a month then trash? He's a genius. Rake in the dough Wendill. They don't like it, they don't have to rent it. Lol Light bulbs and peanuts just tell me you owe him money or got evicted. Lol

Perhaps you were raised to live like trash and be a "skanky townie". My stepson was not. Wendell's properties were terrible, nothing I would want anyone I knew to have to live in. So the only renters he attracts are those like you and his properties will never be something most people would ever even considering stepping foot in. They are for people who have no other options.

During the floods we had last year, I looked at some places to rent until my house was repaired.Although I had heard of him and his reputation I called and had him show me a few places. I stated that I only needed it for 3 months and didnt want or need nothing fancy. Wendels was the worse places I ever saw. I never rented off from him and from what I seen and his reputation (which is well deserved) I never will

well Mam, i agree with you, in that Miss 78 (or whoever) sure sounds like an ugly-mouth skanky townie. she even took to calling her ownself a skanky townie for living in his rental!! to which i am still grinning ear to ear about.:)

the rentals at issue are all low-mid rent places. houses, apts and trailers that rent to a large amount of college students, who use it up and move it out every 5-6 months. never witnessing with my own eyes anything of better condition, i assume that all his properties are this way, though i sure don't want to offend a young and stuggling family who may call one of his places their home right now. because that would not be very kind would it? but sometimes in life people have to rent something quickly and may try and make the best of it. i've had to do that in college and afterward, right here in this town, so i feel like i know most all the landlords past and present.
and i too, would never knowingly let someone i knew, much less cared about, move into one of his places. they are fire traps, and for a hundred more dollars a month you can find a decent and clean home to rent.
might not be right in town though, one reason it is an attraction to college students, professors and people who need to be able to walk to town.
which leads me to:
answer another one of Miss 70somethings' rude and pitiful questions, which went something like:
"why don't you losers go buy your own house?"

well, then again i don't think i will bother explaining the joys of not being a homeowner as a younger person.
there are really many reasons someone might not own or want to own a home....but i don't think that matters to this girl.
i think she enjoys being rude and seemingly superior to lesser human beings. kinda sad, but thoroughly entertaining!!

I couldn't agree more with your entire post. I, too, chuckled at the thought of her willinging calling herself a skankie townie. It's nice to get a real laugh off of Topix once in a while, people can be so funny sometimes.

And you are absolutely right. Homeowning is not for everyone, especially when a person is younger. Upkeep and routine maintenance can be a real drain. Also, there is something to be said for the freedom to pick up and move to another area without having to go through the frustrations and hassles of selling your home first.

I have owned my own homes since I was 22, so it's been a long time since I've rented. However, my kids are all renting right now and I don't blame them at all. I must add though, if someone was inclined to want to own, there will never be a better time than now to buy because of the incredibly low interest rates.

Ha ha... Wow... Reading comprehension- another fall down for you people that can't pay their rent and want to whine because someone is taking all of your government check for a roof over your head. I own my home and renting was a good decision for me at the time. It did take quite a bit of cleaning and repairs, I will admit that. However, Wendill took it off my rent. I am not saying that I would live in one of his properties now...I am not saying I wouldn't. But I really don't see how you could dispose someone for making a living. He isn't forcing people to rent from him. It's a choice... I don't understand why you are even talking about it. I have to go be skanky....

It is a person' choice. However it is not the choice of a landlord to let a property become so ratted and rundown. Anyone can slap down a new carpet and slap some paint on the walls to make a place look ok. Imagine a renters surprise when they move in and their shit falls through the floor. Wendall is the owner of most the trashy homes that everyone in Morehead complains about. I think it's time for people to take action. I wouldn't rent off of him because I have seen first hand what filth he passes off as a suitable place to live. He is not the only one, either but he has no shame nor remorse for what he does. It's so easy to sit and say oh well it must be someone on government assistance, I don't give a rat's ass how they pay the rent they are human beings and shouldn't be taken advantage of. Hell the ASPCA wouldn't let the seized dogs live in the filth he owns.

If Wendell White needs to be flushed down the toilet what should us landlords do with these shitty renters who leave our houses in ruin after we have worked our butts off painting and cleaning up after these dead beats who wont pay rent on time and it takes a month to get them out!! And no I am not Wendell White but I do own a rental house and I am going to sell it because everytime is worse than the time before!!

Well my advice is that you purchase insurance to cover damages that may occur during your property being rented. Requiring deposits has little assistance to the damage done to some homes.
