Family Dollar has really turned into a bad place to work since we got our new boss and we no longer have Mark Hammerick. When Mark was there we had someone who cared about us now we have a boss who cares about only making himself look good. He is even going around calling us dumba_ _ hillbillies. I do not know about you but I do not enjoy my job anymore and feel that I could be let go at anytime by this new boss. I think he needs to go back where he came from and we need our old boss back.

I work days in Repack. I just think we are not being treaded right. Some of us even got letters from someone who works out there with us and they said they felt the same way. They are changing everything taking everything away from us even our bonus and we just nothing in return but a new boss who wants to get rid of us.

I can tell that you are the one who sent the letters out by failing to use the availability of "spell check" on your computer.(Dumb _ss hillbillies or candidate for Jerry Springer show) I would like to address your concern stating a need for a union but not having the integrity(b---s) to post your actual name and give information on where a meeting would be held. Tsk, Tsk! This leads me to believe that you would like someone else to take the reins for you. News Flash! There are currently over a hundred people who worked at Kings Daughter in Ashland for 20+ years who are out of work due to not being able to reach an agreement with the union. This article can be read in the Lexington Herald. You can "Google" it. Just because the union asks for something on an employees behalf does not neccessarily mean he/she will get it. If the union cannot reach an agreement then a layoff can come into force. Family dollar has never imposed one. They have always offered us a 40 hour week. Union dues are not free. I do not want to pay dues. I have enough coming out of my check already. Health insurance? Yes it is high. Try to buy it outside of a company and see what it costs. When we clock in, it is called "going to work" not "going to a picnic". We are not steel workers or autoworkers.

They used to have horrible conditions and working hours. We do work hard, and long hours too. We are very busy. Family dollar makes sure that we are employed. When we are not busy, lack of work is offered. It would not be fair to hire more people when we are busy, only to let them go when we no longer need them in the slower season. Solution? Temp service...get it? Temps.. I don't want to lose my bonus, and yes we do get raises(if we earn them)plus sick days and t.o.p. I know that I will be slammed for posting this, but I challange anyone who has something to say to answer back using their real name. I stand BEHIND no one. I stand beside my country, family, friends, coworkers and employers. They pay me for my work and put food on my table. Some days I leave there wanting to quit and some days I am on top of the world. I take the good and the bad. I never had a disagreement with Mark Hamrick,(and please respect him by spelling his name correctly since you think so much of him)but it will be up to Family Dollar to bring back who they choose. We cannot offer them a standoff. Otherwise they would have to bring back everyone who was let go or face a lawsuit. I have had my say, and I am sure you still disagree. It does not matter. I know that there are enough of the other employees that still take pride in their jobs that stand beside me and will post their names and comments here. Thank your J. Jones for wasting the time of the U.S. postal service and your money on stamps. Final thought to ponder on> Beware of the gypsy curse:
Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it! Now, If you would like to say something back, please come out of hiding or you know how you are going to come off as looking.......

Debi....I will tell you that we have no support now and we need to do something. Watch what I am telling you all of us including you are on the list of those that could lose our job at any minute because this new boss does not like us or wants us to be like Florida. All I will say is that all of our good managers will be run off and long term team members are at risk. Also as for the lack of work we even no longer have control of that and no 40 hours every week they can send us home. We need help whatever that is!!

Here it is in a nutshell. Our technology is not so far advanced that robots can run the D.C. It takes humans to do that job. As long as we go to work and do our jobs, then we will have one. I don't want to loose the perks we receive but will gladly give them up if it means keeping our jobs secure. They are rewards, not a condition of employment as mandated by law. We are still in a recession but Family Dollar is thriving and will build still yet another D.C. When the economy is down, people shop at budget stores and we do good. Let's just put on our big girl panties and do our job. The cell phones were never really allowed in the building, they were just over looked. Some people,(and yes, I visually saw them) took advantage of this and used them texting and answering them whenever they wanted to. I have been guilty on occasion myself when I did not shut it off. I feel confident that if my job is eliminated for some reason, then I will be placed somewhere else. I have a clean record, don't miss work, do what I am asked, stay until needed and go home when I am not. I don't feel I will be "fired" without a valid reason I bring on myself so I sleep soundly so that I may wake refreshed for work.
Peace out!

I work first shift receiving. I have been there ten years and went through all the changes unscathed. I am still unclear as to what the concern is. An empty warehouse with no employees to run it? Do what you are paid to do and you will be fine. The new RVP is getting rid of all the managers? Really? What happened to all the managers BEFORE he got here. Perhaps that is WHY he is here. Be confident in yourself to know that you cannot be terminated without a valid reason and if you are a valuable asset your job is secure. I am an asset to any company because I stand behind them while I draw a check from them. If I were to be let go,(never terminated) then another company will benefit from my usefulness.
Continue to have a good outlook, bring good morals, support, and confidence.

Family dollar needs a union! and in good ol' ky they don't need a reason to fire you. They can fire you without any reason, all they have to tell you is go home.

If you unionize Family Dollar will pull out of Morehead period. And they should! Unions are the scum of society and the reason GM and Chrysler went bankrupt. Look at Toyota and how they are so successful....because they are NON UNION! Unions are socialist losers. If you can't keep a job or deal with your supervisor without a union rep, then you deserve to be fired. i dont care how unfair it all seems, that's the simple truth of the matter. If you want to keep your jobs, DONT UNIONIZE or your jobs will be shipped to another non union area period!

Debi it is easy to say the things you do in a job with no standards like the job you have. It is easy to stand behind a company when you have a desk job and they are not holding you to a production standard. Come out an take one of the jobs on the floor and see if you still want to stand behind everything that is happening. Joining a union may not be the way I am not sure but I know we do not have anyone right now who is looking out for us just someone who wants to make themself look good. I will be the first to remind you of what was said here when the changes start really effecting you. Like you said there are some of us who have been here just as long as you who are going to not just be walked on.

Family Dollar stores all over are doing real good these days. They did a report on it one day on Fox news. They are getting greedy and want you to do more with less people. So they can line their pockets with more money. Or maybe even move it where there are more Mexicans who work cheaper. Don't fool yourself all those Dem. or Rep. who Holler shut down the border they don'y mean it. What would the rich do? Who could clean the house, cook, do the yard work, be a nanny, clean the pool for less than min.wage. By the way I don't work at Family Dollar.

Have you forgotten where I started out at? The guys in shipping can tell you they have the hardest job in the D.C. and I was the only girl who hung in there with them for six months loading trailers. Kudos to the shippers!

I cannot believe that anyone would standup for Family Dollar the way they have been treating us and getting rid of all of the bosses that care about us!!! These will be the people who will also find themselves gone next because we see what they want. They want heartless managers who use people like they are just a piece of equipment!!! They want workers who are robots and do just what they are told!!!
