i would not trust one these breed of dogs around kids. we had a blue heeler 12 years ago, that turned on us, and others, i had heard it is bred into them to be agressive, and bite. i would not recommend this kind of dog around children. we had to get rid of our dog, it was to tempermental. this is just our experience with our dog, i don't know if they are all like that though!

that is not a good breed for small kids, but with most dogs, if you introduce them to small kids as a puppy, train the dog and the kids as to proper interaction, you can have success, but most of the rat hole or small varmit killing breeds have temperments that make them snap at little things running around, especially if they grab at the dog's tail.

Blue heelers are one person dogs which means that they get attached to one person and can be mean towards other people. They are very protective... I wouldnt recommend a grown dog for a kid but a puppy would be okay I would think....

now there is a good dog for a child...a beagle. the only issue with a beagle is their desire to track and to run...be prepared for potential absences...but most beagles have great temperments.

I have a blue heeler that is four years old. She has always been great with kids and I don't think she would ever hurt one. I have a 7 week old baby at home also and my dog seems protective over her and always wants to to know where the baby is. I see no problem with blue heelers and kids but I guess a dog will behave according to how it is raised.

it dont matter what we tell you, your obviously gonna get a blue heeler regardless of many many negative warning you get, because you want one so bad you gonna ignor them and look for a somethin good said about em and thats all you'll see...deep down you know a blue heeler isnt good with kids, they even nip at there heels in an attempt to herd them.

We have had a blue heeler for 12 years now.He used to babysit my kids when they were small, lol.Seriously he would. But not one time has he ever attempted to harm them.He is very protective of the property though. He is a part of the family. The kids call him there brother.I dont know anything about other heelers. But ours is a kind, sweet, protective sweetheart.

i believe you, but theres more of them thats bad with kids, specially young kids. so if your worried about a dog bein dangerous for your kids, and you find out that blue heelers are 70% bad for kids and 30% good with em, your takin a 70% chance on your baby getin mauled, what kind of parent would take those chances

Whoever was looking for the blue heeler might want to check out this ad on Craigslist http://lexington.craigslist.org/grd/137655576... He's only 9 months old and $25. Looks adorable.

We had a Blue Heeler and it was protective of the people that it was used to being around. I had to move and gave the dog to my Grandma who lived on a farm. The dog did great. When I had my son and would visit Grandma the dog did fine with my Boy. The best dog we ever had. Very smart dog.
